Do villagers get to keep the clothes you put on them at Harv's island? I thought I read somewhere that they do but I can't remember or find where I read that. We keep trying but there is no obvious "save" and when we get back to our island the villager (Audie) is still wearing the grotesque pineapple dress she arrived with. Is there any other way to get her to get rid of that ugly thing other than bombard her with clothing alternatives?

no they don’t keep the clothes from Harv’s island. You would have to gift them the outfit for them to wear it and have it in their wardrobe. I read that villagers will always keep their default outfit, so there is no way to make Audie get rid of her pineapple dress. She won’t wear it as often though if you gift her a bunch of other clothes that she likes.

Thanks for the response ... and dang, I hate being wrong especially after being so insistent about it to my GF lol. I was certain I had either read it in one of those "don't sleep on Harv's island..." threads - or maybe it was a Youtube video.

Since Harv's island pulls from your entire catalog, whether you still own the item or not, it wouldn't make sense for them to keep the clothes.

Maybe what you saw was just saying Harv's island is useful for deciding what clothes look good on an animal before you gift them.

I figured out what it was - I had watched this video a while back and misunderstood the part where he says you can go back and order the clothes that looked good on them. Guess we'll have to endure the pineapples for a while longer until she changes it lol
