Has the TT patch made it so we can't go back in time for Limited Time seasonal items?

Everywhere I read people say the only thing affected by the TT patch made back in 2020 was that you can't go forward in time to do events. However, I'm currently going back in time (to July 1, 2020) to try and get bamboo grass for my island and the item isn't showing up in my shop? The limited time item tab doesn't even show up, it's just the dailies and the specials like the Mario items and the Pocket Camp items.

Am I screwed out of these items until that time comes back IRL? Or is something screwy with my game?

I think it's just the bamboo grass. I've TT'ed backwards for cycling purposes and the proper events still showed up.

All events prior to August 1, 2020 are no longer accessible.

The tanabata seasonal items are shifted to 2021. So TT forwards to July 1-7, 2021 instead.

To put it simply, if you want to access all current events and seasonal items, do it between August 1, 2020 - July 31, 2021. The same thing will happen with future updates. So expect last year's Fireworks Festival to be no longer accessible because it will be shifted to 2021 soon.

TT'd to July 1st 2021 and they still haven't shown up. Beginning to think that I'm going to have to pay out my wazoo on Nookazon for bamboo grass.

Do you have the most recent game update, ver.1.10? Try to TT further into July.

Anyway, don't bother with Nookazon. Try the forum's shops instead.

Well good thing I did the Fireworks Festival last year so I already know what it was like. So I am just going to say this. If you really want to go back and play the old events from last year you still have time before they are gone for good.

I do indeed have the most recent version of the game. I TT'd to July 6th and then the 15th, still no grass available.

Hmm. I don't TT so I can't test it on mine. It is possible that the seasonal items for July onwards are currently time-locked. Meaning, we need to actually wait for it real-time.

If someone else who TT could try and see, then that would confirm my suspicion.

I tested it by jumping forward to July 6th then 7th. No seasonal items are available. Unfortunately, they do seemed to be time-locked.

Thanks everyone for helping me out. Guess I'll wait a few days and see if they unlock July 1st in real time.

Once nintendo updates for a future event, it wont be available in the past by tt. For example, you can tt to Halloween 2020 but not fireworks festival 2020 because Halloween hasn't yet received an update. Only once the update is released and the dates for it have passed can you go back to 2020 events. Tbh this update model seems so unnecessarily convoluted in order to stop tting but whatever. It is what it is, I guess.🤷🏾‍♀️

Yeah, this does seem kinda silly, just to try to stop time traveling. So what if we have an urge to play Halloween come October. It's Halloween season! We want to do more than just decorate and stuff, and some of us can't be sure that we'll be able to play on Halloween night between 6PM and midnight. Some of us have jobs ya know! Really unnecessary to put up a wall. And that's coming from somebody who only "time travels" to go back a day because he was too busy to play and wants to experience that day on the game still. Let the people enjoy their game their way!

^ this so much. Whenever there is a bug off or fishing tourney I have to hope the bus gets me home from work on time so I can play them, usually I only get 30 minutes to do it and can hardly get any prizes.

For Nintendo to decide that you can't time travel to replay an event you missed because of work or you know, because you were actually busy celebrating the holiday, then that just seems mean spirited and overall pointless

But you absolutely can revisit events you missed.
The only time you cant is when they are covered by the current update and the real world time hasn't happened yet.

So like right now Halloween 2020 is still available but it won't be when the patch that covers Halloween 2021 comes out. Then the event is locked off completely until Halloween 2021 happens irl. Then we can tt back to it from any point forwards.

Also, things like the fishing tourney and bug off aren't covered by this at all and are completely accessible by time travel right now. Regardless of what the current update covers.

So it really isn't a big deal. It's a mild inconvenience for a month or so.

Just an update. It IS time-locked. It's July 1st now and the bamboo grass is available for purchase.
