so, I've heard that there are two kinds of false art that Redd can sell you: the traditional slightly modified versions of the pieces and haunted ones.

I believe only a couple of paintings can be haunted but that would be things like eyes blinking, stuff like that. The thing is, I wasn't able to find a lot of information on those so I was wondering if anyone had found a haunted painting, and if so how did you discover that it was haunted/what does it do? You know, for Halloween-research purposes...

The fake wistful, scary, and graceful paintings scare me too much to keep it around my island, lol.
For the graceful painting, there's a creepy stain behind it. Then there's the fake ancient statue where its eyes glow and it floats a bit.

I use the fake informative statue for my bathroom/underwater area. It gets a glowy affect at night.

ooo that's so cool! I was certain that it was the Mona Lisa painting that did that, but the Girl with the Pearl Earring is really eerie too, I hope I can buy one from Redd soon!

I love that they added these little details to the fake paintings, Animal Crossing and slightly creepy easter eggs go together really well I think

I saw a video of the graceful painting the other day, and not gonna lie, it freaked me out! lol

The wistful painting is pretty creepy too. Might get that one for my haunted mansion (I actually have the real one hanging in one of the rooms)

Frick, haunted paintings are incredibly scary ;-; i was looking at someone's painting once and it randomly blinked and i frikin jumped out of my SKIN bro

I also have a fake ancient statue, when i first saw it at night time the same thing happened lol. and when u interact with it it floats for a few seconds so it sorta seems like an alien... i hate aliens ;-;
but uh yeah they're pretty interesting lol. didn't know redd was into witchcraft

The fake wistful painting is in my basement. That room is a Hufflepuff common room, so it fits right in.

I have the fake ancient statue that I put in my zen garden. His eyes glow at night and you can make in float. I don't really find it creepy/haunted. Almost just like a little alien guy!

Adding on to this discussion with a question of my own, hope no one minds. Are you able to see in Redd's shop if the pieces are haunted, or do you need to buy the fake first and hope you get lucky with a special haunted one and it's something you discover later (like at night time)?

that's a very good question!

the images I've seen of the haunted Girl with a Pearl Earring don't seem to appear fake, she's wearing the regular round earrings, not the star-shaped one...

Specific pieces of fake art are haunted. All fake ancient statues, informative statues, wistful paintings, graceful paintings, and scary paintings are haunted. The other fake art pieces are just regular fakes that don't do anything special.

So a fake painting or fake statue will always be haunted or just a few of the fake paintings and statues have the ability to do certain things?

Cause this has freaked me out but I still want to go on a hunt to find them haha

If something is listed as haunted, that's the only option. There isn't a "plain fake" and a "haunted fake".

Some of them are hard to see. My haunted wistful painting is tough to see the closed eyes unless I use camera mode and zoom in, so I wouldn't let it freak you too much.

is the informative statue. The blue is so pretty and the glow is really nice. I found out about it when looking at @Hobowire’s haunted house screenshots. Since then, I’ve bought so many of them and been hoarding them. The other artwork I looked up online. The fake graceful painting and the wistful are the ones that I find to have more of a creepy vibe. The fake informative and ancient statues to me are more cool than creepy (in a scary sense).

I have 2 outside and 11 in my storage lol. A friend gave me some and I always couldn’t stop purchasing them whenever I saw them and there weren’t any other statues.
