So, I have had this rather cheap, but incredible headset for the price for probably a year and a half. Maybe two or so years. Anyway, since I got the thing, I have been weary of the swiveling ear pieces breaking, as they felt pretty flimsy and creaky, etc. However, I don't take these with me anywhere like ever, so I never fold them up or swivel them into "Traveling Position" I guess you could say, which makes them more compact to take on the go. Folding these up like all the time makes them a whole lot more apt to breaking.

Well, anyway, today, the right side finally gave out.

It is just a bit of a crack, and doesn't look TOO horribly major, but it definitely has changed the way the piece moves and feels, certainly is moving closer to finally breaking off. This has opened my eyes to the fact that: I need a new headset. The exact headset I have is a Nox Audio Specialist headset, can be found on amazon here...

This headset has just been great. To play games with friends and Skype at the same time, it has just been wonderful. Previously, I had to use the mic for my 5th gen iPod touch which worked surprisingly well, actually. My voice was nice and clear, as was my friends was who was using an iPad 3. Anyway, for 20 bucks this headset has offered slightly better quality than that even, which in my eyes is great for the price xD (Considering my friend spent 70$ on his Razer Kraken it might be called? idk his razer mouse might even be called that xD his voice quality is awful. Sounds only slightly better than an ordinary PHONE CALL. Not any wifi call or anything. Horrible. Nasalated, scratchy, ugh. It isn't his internet either, we recorded it just using his PC and played it back and there was no difference) phew, so pretty much, the headset also offers pretty good sound, comparable to my brothers mini Sennheisers, which were 60 bucks.

The sound on his headphones (no mic or anything) is overall a little bit clearer, but he has slightly more *oomph* to the bass, and we both agreed on this. My headphones have worked well as PC headphones/mic, and work well for just listening to music, watching general videos, etc. Also, they are a little bulky, but aren't insane. The ear pieces are nice and comfy, but the headband on top gets a little uncomfortable after about and hour and a half to two hours of use, but in that case, you just move the headphones a bit and problem is solved.

So... Anyway, any suggestions? Nothing too bulky, or expensive. Also, I use this primarily with my PC and my iPod/iPad, so it has to have a 3.5 mm headphone connector. It needs to have a decent quality mic, and pretty good sound, too... I am thinking 50-70$ TOPS here so... Yeah ._.

Edit: I need to learn to read. Headset, not headphones. Everything said below is obsolete except the bit about Sennheiser's offerings being decent.

Anything by Sennheiser is great, but if you're going for the cheaper offerings by that brand the head band may be on the fragile side. When it comes to those headphones mid-range in price (i.e., between the cheapest brands and the top-of-the-line gaming headsets), I'd invest in an AKG K44. More durability, though keep toddlers' prying hands away from the speaker cushion.

No issues with it despite years of use. AKG of course offers costlier headphones if you're more loose with the wallet.

I have a set of PS3 bluetooth wireless headphones, and I love them to bits. They sound great for what they are. My old set was an optical Sharkoon 5.1, wired, but they sounded excellent and performed wonderfully until they broke.

Hah looks pretty good but I need somethin with a mic, that is one of the greatest things with my headset now, it has a pretty good mic (Slightly better than one you would hear when you record something with an iPhone mic, which is more than acceptable for Skype calls, which is what I use the mic for) and my headset has a retractable mic on a nice bendy metal sort of cord, so you can bend it out of the way when you need, or move it closer or farther from your face, or completely retract it into the headset so you can't even notice there's a mic.

I have a pair of sennheiser hd 598s with a Zalman clip mic. The soundstage is amazing, plus you can use them for music. If that's not in your budget, go for something lower in the sennheiser series. You pay a premium when you buy a headset, because you're getting the headphones/mic combination. You get quality audio with headphones, and mics aren't very expensive.

audio technicas are a bit pricey but i've heard they're quite nice and if you search around can get the ath-m30x in your price range! :) i'm thinking of buying some myself but i've always been more of an in-earphones person.
