I'm a recent member of the forums but I've been playing Animal Crossing since the GameCube days!
Honestly, I've found in the past that after a little while of playing an AC game, the routine *CAN* get a little old (everyone's different!) But it usually takes a while. I usually develop a routine where I talk to all my villagers, do any tasks for them, go shopping, dig up fossils/gyroids etc etc.
After all that (at least in the beginning of the game) I would go to the island and make some bells. But this got old to me pretty quickly, especially after a few house upgrades and when my furniture collection started growing.
This is where TBT came in for me! It's a great community and there always seems to be something to do. People are always looking for things, selling things, hosting events etc.
When you really get going in the game and you start acquiring more bells, something a lot of people do is add paths or themes to their town (there are a lot of threads about these topics).
The great thing about this game is you can really play at your own pace. Whether you want to rush through house upgrades or take your time, it's up to the player! You made a great decision in joining this forum, I can assure you it will only enhance your gameplay
