Hi all! I just started ACNH about 3-4 weeks ago. In the beginning I didn't know what the hype about the game was but after hearing about it so much from friends, I decided to pull the trigger to buy it since we are all at home 24/7 anyways now... Instantly got addicted of course. From wanting to know more about the game, was super surprised how active FB groups are for ACNH and then discovered this wonderful forum after digging for more about AC.

I'm from the east coast. Lately this week I just learned about hunting for villagers on the mystery islands and after many hours (probably wayyyy too many hours) found Marina, Chief, and Diana! Hoping to one day get Zucker and Merengue.

For any AC veterans, would love to hear how you keep yourself engaged in AC for the long run (as in longer than a few months). My friends who started with me a few weeks ago said they are already somewhat "bored" of ACNH so they are playing less now. :(

Welcome to TBT! I'm new to the forums myself, but it's a great community.

I played New Leaf when it was first released and though I enjoyed it, NH has really drawn me in. As far as staying engaged in the game, that answer is going to change for everyone. I heard someone say AC is a marathon, not a sprint, and I believe them. Instead of focusing on "finishing" your village (what does that even mean with AC?) try to make little improvements where you can. Savor your villagers and don't focus too much on collecting all of your "dreamies" right away. You don't have to let a villager that you flat out dislike in your village, but consider letting different villagers that you may not have thought about in and let them move out naturally. And don't be afraid to change up your village and do some terraforming if you feel like you need a project to work on to feel active. The good thing too is that new content is added seasonally and through DLC, so it keeps you invested.

And making more friends can also keep you invested.

Welcome to TBT! :)

Usually I make it a point to play every day, even if I don’t do much. And then there will always be times when I want to work on something new or try something new with the game. That’s how I’ve been playing Animal Crossing since the GameCube! :D

Thanks Figment! Good point on the letting different villagers in your island that you haven't thought of before. Sometimes I realize all the islanders I tend to like aesthetically have similar personality types so then they all end up saying similar dialogue... I'll keep all those things in mind! :)

Thank you EviltheCat!

Thanks Izuku! I think I'm starting to feel the same as you know as I play... some days I'll just spend a few hours mystery island hopping and other days I just spend 30min terraforming to clear out a level and I'm good for the day. Instead of the first 2 weeks where I probably binged way too many hours.
