I am mostly just joining to trade amiibo cards. I'll be posting a thread shortly. My wife and I share an island in New Horizons (and used to share a town in New Leaf). My wife's more active on the island than me. I've also been playing a lot of Pocket Camp and have been foolishly giving them my money, so if anyone want to be pals on there let me know!

About me: I have 5 cats, live in the US, and work in software.

Thank you! Her name is Mischa and she is the smallest of the cats but also thinks she runs the house (she does run the house)

i don’t partake in amiibo card trading myself (shipping is expensive, and i’m always terrified that what i send will get lost lol), but good luck!! a few other users have actually joined just to trade amiibo cards in the past day or so as well, and the community here as a whole is quite trustworthy and helpful, so i’m sure you’ll have some trades arranged in no time! are you looking to obtain every card, or just ones you and your wife are interested in? what cards are you hoping to trade for the most?

it’s cool that you and your wife share an island! does your island have any particular theme, or do you guys just decorate however you like? i’m always curious about how people decorate when two or more people share the island haha.

mischa is absolutely adorable, by the way! what inspired you to pick that name for her? what are your other 4 cats like?

We're aiming for completion (that is a me thing, my wife is much more chill about only getting what she likes) but also if it doesn't happen it's not going to bug me too much. I've already had a lot of luck. People are really responsive and friendly.

And our island doesn't really have much of a theme. My wife really likes food items, so there are a lot of little cafes and restaurants (the new update made her day) and I really like making farms & gardens (I garden a lot irl too) but otherwise it's mostly just whatever. We're in the middle of renovating everything, but it's hard to find time to sit down and plan things out. What about you?

So Mischa was the name the rescue had given her; we generally don't change the cat names unless it's something we really don't like; we've only done it once.

As for the others:
This is Mischa, Gray (the gray cat) and Otto (white & tabby). Gray is older. He looks grumpy and has a lot of health problems but he is the sweetest and most patient boy you could ask for. He lets you toss him around and will grab your hand to force you to pet his face. Otto is best friends with all the other cats and likes to play with everyone. He's a bit fussy and particular with humans though. Jaime is another black cat, but he's older and is more particular about people. Where Mischa loves pretty much anyone (especially people who love her) Jaime tends to only have a few people he likes. He is harness trained and goes outside on walks. Tara is the dilute tortie and she is beautiful and perpetually confused. The picture I uploaded is sideways and refused to be uploaded right side up and that suits her probably more than anything I could say.

your island sounds super neat! it’s so tempting to make a bunch of different cafés and restaurants in-game, especially with all the new food items we got in 2.0 aha. i really like creating gardens and farms as well, especially gardens! i’ve never really had an opportunity to do much gardening irl since i’ve always lived in an apartment, so getting to do it in-game is pretty fun (not so much when i have to dig up a bunch of flowers after it rains/snows, though lmao).

i’m aiming to have a colourful, vivid and plant-filled island of sorts, but i don’t really know how to go about it yet, so my island is still quite undecorated; i have 2 finished areas (my yard and a celestial lounge area) and a bunch of scattered items and unfinished ideas across the island, but that’s about it aha. i feel you about not having the time to sit and plan things out; i have a bunch of ideas, but no time or energy to bring them to life. i’m sure we’ll get there eventually, though. good luck with renovating!

your cats are absolutely adorable, and i love that you kept their rescue names! i renamed my kitty to alize, but my mom still calls her by the name the rescue gave her (squee). jaime also looks insanely identical to my late kitty, zeva. they’re all so beautiful, and i love the variety in personality. also, tara might actually be my spirit animal lol. i love how green her eyes are!

Sorry for the late reply; I took a look at your island journal (so handy to have it in your signature) and was really impressed with how you use a bunch of different items to create one cohesive look! It's amazing. Once I have some time I'll have to check out people's decorating ideas. Also oof the post-rain/snow flower pruning is real. This is why vegetables and shrubs are the best.

thank you so much! my island is a work in progress, as well as my journal, so i really appreciate the compliments! hopefully i’ll be able to make the rest of my island look cohesive once i finally start working on it aha.

LOL i feel you on your baby island unconsciously turning into a clone of your main island — that happening is one of the reasons why i’ve hesitated on creating a second island. it sometimes feels like all my good ideas are going towards my main island lmao, so i’m worried a second island would just turn into axolotl (my island name) 2.0.

here’s my girl! she’s 8-months-old and absolutely bonkers, but she’s also incredibly sweet and i love her.
