Help! I want to buy a game from the UK...

So the Mario Maker 2 steelbook case is only in the UK. I want to import it from there but I don't know if it will work here (Canada). It also comes with the 12 month subscription to online service. So will that work here if I buy it from there? Please, I need definite answers! I don't want to waste money thank you!

It should work just fine for the most part, but there may be 2 small problems.
1. Codes usually are region locked so the 1 year online subscription may not work for you. You could find someone to sell it to possibly?
2. If the game ever decides to release paid DLC, you'd have to make a European account and buy the DLC on that account. It's just a bit of extra work but it'll work out fine afterwards. Updates aren't affected by this at all and you'll be able to update it the same as any other game.

I haven't actually tried buying an out-of-region game myself before, this is mostly stuff I've heard from friends. I'm like 90% sure what I said is right but I'd wait for a second person to confirm.

Personally I don't think the game will get DLC. But we know for sure that you won't be able to use the code for the 12 month subscription to NSO. SHOULD the game get DLC you'll have to make a European Nintendo Account and either use PayPal or use a European eShop card to purchase it.

The game will work just fine if that's what you're asking, the Switch is region free!

Awe, thanks guys.. I guess if I can't use the code for the online it won't be worth all the import fees I'll be paying, just to get the steelbook case. It sucks that the UK gets all the cool limited edition things! Canadians deserve nice things too! Even the steelbook case for Link's Awakening is UK only. Grr. Maybe I'll just buy the steelbook off a scalper, which I'm sure will happen... hopefully it'll be cheaper than buying the whole thing imported.. I'm super disappointed.

Okay but have you ever compared the limited editions NA gets to the European counterparts because we get a lot of steelbooks yes but it doesn't go beyond that most of the time. The Fire Emblem: Three Houses limited edition is pretty lame compared to the American version... In this case there is no comparison but saying that we always get the cool stuff is false

Anyway if you really want it so bad, if you have a European friend you could ask them if they can buy you a 12 month American sub while you give them your code in return.

I mean.. sure.. but I'm not interested in Fire Emblem.. I'm just talking about my perspective. The exclusives I want are always either Asia or EU. Like these 2 steelbook cases. And the Animal Crossing 2DS XL. So to me, I get really jealous that I can't get those. I'm sure it's a matter of the grass is greener on the other side.
