Hello,
I’m too confused and frustrated by now and I was wondering if anyone could help me with this situation.

A while back my boyfriend got a switch and animal crossing game (physical game). But I was the one starting it and so I became the island representative.
I now got my own switch and a digital copy of the game, totally unaware of the conditionings of island representative.

I transferred the island to my own switch and successfully connected with my character, but his was not associated to any user. I couldn’t create a new user to play that character and when I used his account it demanded I purchase a copy of the game (the same as when creating a new character, it would always ask to buy the game). Because he has a physical copy of the game, I could make it work with using his game card.
So far so good BUT now I can’t transfer is character to another island. The pressing - on the mais screen with his account and game card demands that we have another copy of the game on his switch to make the moving, and is it with my account and digital copy, it says that I cannot move a player with a linked account.

What a mess… can someone help me?

Figure out which Switch is set as your primary console, then open the digital copy using his account on that Switch, and use the physical copy for the other. You'll also need to set up his user on both Switches, I believe, you can't move his character to your account.

Hei Burumun, thank you for the quick reply.
Unfortunately it doesn’t allow me to open his account in my digital copy “ This user cannot play this software. If you have not purchased the software, you can do so from Nintendo eShop. (…)”.

I really don’t know what to do anymore :(
