So I held an auction for Marshal, and someone bid the buyout with Molly and 15mil for him, so obviously I agreed to the trade and ended the auction. I left a VM on their page asking about pickups and such, and didn't get a reply until a few hours later in which they told me they weren't going to trade because they had won him in a raffle.

Is there any sort of rule against someone flaking on a trade after it was pretty much agreed on?

Auctions in Re-Tail and Villager Trading Plaza

When hosting an auction for your items or moving villagers, you must follow through with the sale unless you explicitly stated that the auction results are subject to be changed. Otherwise, the auction winner may give the host negative feedback for failing to complete the sale. The auction winner may also receive negative feedback if he or she fails to follow through with the purchase. Include as many rules with your auction as you feel fit, such as starting bid price, time limit, and bidding increments.

So I am guessing you can give them negative feedback for failing to go through with the auction after winning.

That's really an unfortunate situation to be in, from the buyer's perspective. However, if you enter a raffle, you shouldn't try to buy said item/villager anywhere else until you know if you won or not. That's what I did when I saw Rolf being given away for free somewhere else. I quickly recanted my bid (with plenty of time left on the auction/sale) and waited patiently for over 2 weeks til I finally got Rolf elsewhere also for free. The first one didn't fall through and the person just disappeared. I'd say leave that person a bad wi-fi rating.

I understand entering a raffle, but don't buyout on something if the raffle is still going ON.
