HHA Score Question

So I've had NL for 6 years, but I've never really cared about the HHA or the scores it gives me. Yesterday I got on and for some odd reason I decided to check my HHA score. I had a really low score of about 15,000, and Lyle told me I should be getting a score of (something higher than 50k, can't remember the number). So my question is, is there any way I can get a high HHA score if I don't want all my furniture to be the same theme? I decorate with odd pieces that usually don't have a theme, like things from Harvey's campsite-- I even have a phone booth in my house because it matches the look of the room, and a cafe sign next to it with a dalmatian ornament next to that. That gives you an idea of how I match things in my house lol. I always have a theme in mind, but it's never a theme like the "green" set or "alpine" or anything. I just know the feel I want a room to have and go by that. I don't think there IS a way to get a higher score unless I make everything a game-given theme, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for anyone's help!

Its mainly rare things with the complete set as far as a bed, dresser, etc is concerned, and that includes the ever so undeserving balloon set. I stopped attempting at it after being told the exotic set was "harmonic" but it was supposedly glitched to be rustic instead. Also I didn't want a bed in every room.

What I did was just use the complete sets to get the HHA score I needed for the badges, then I redecorated everything the way I wanted regardless of score.

Agreed with LadyDestani. I decorated my house with a theme to unlock everything and then once that was done, I put everything I did want in my house back. At least, this is what I would of done, if I was still playing, but I no longer have my town anymore. :p

If you want a high score to unlock say, the golden house exteriors and badges, just pick a theme to do and use the furniture sets that match that theme. Once that is done and if you didn't have a high enough score to hit the mark, then add a couple more furniture pieces from each set to bump up the score. It should give you the highest score possible and you should be able to unlock the golden house exteriors and badges. Then after that, just put everything you had originally back in your house. :)

Sorry to necro this, but I feel like I'm the perfect person for "Can you score points with a house that has no theme and is a total mess?"
The answer is absolutely YES. My home, as of this morning, sits a bit over 110k.

I do not have a single holiday set or Gracie items in my house, I don't use any full set AT ALL. At most I use around 5 items from a set, but never the full. I don't pay attention to lucky placements or what's seasonally worth more points. Almost all the items I use are orderables.

To get the score of 150k (where the trophies stop), MAYBE you'd have to use full sets or non-basic sets. But getting over 50k is more than doable. And to get the exterior scores, from 300k-1.1mil, I'm sure you have to.
My advice for using whatever furniture you want is: If Cyrus can customize it, get it customized. That's it.

Here's an example of one of my rooms, as you can see I don't stick to a theme or set, and I place tons of stuff in with no real goal in mind. LOL. The only thing is that, every item that could be customized, is ! And that is how this mess is worth so many points. I think I had half my current score before I started taking items to Cyrus, and over the next few days, my score skyrocketed. Probably because of color bonuses ! (everything is white now) I also have tons of garbage on the floor for Halloween and items that came in the mail today.... So even if you use your house as storage, you can still score a bunch !

My advice, just stick to themes and try to gather pictures of villagers living in your town. :]

So, I don't know why, I first noticed that wooden cage with a cricket. Nice Halloween decorations in the house! :]

Anyway, I found that Lyle says something about seasonal items. It's October so maybe spooky series plus autumn bugs/fish.
