I'm just tired of reading a lot of negative reviews/opinions over Home Designer, so I just wanted to spread my love for it. It has surpassed my expectations.

The one negative thing that I keep hearing is that there's no challenge and that it's easy. Well, it's not the game designers fault that you're not playing this game as you should. Every time you start a new house/public building, there is always items that you must use in the house. Now sure, you could just put those items in and finish it in a second and pass... but why did you even buy this game then? If you actually like what this game is about, which is designing houses, then it's easy to spend 1 hour + on each house or facility trying to follow the theme & incorporate the provided items. I don't see any other way they could have implemented a challenge without sacrificing creativity, and I think this works great.

Also, despite not being able to hangout with other players online, for some reason I feel like this game is way more interactive then New Leaf ever was. The ability to assign roles to villagers is amazing and fun, and their dialogue has never been better. I've been spending more time than I thought I would just dressing up in their houses & taking pictures (which I thought would be a lame feature).

And the Happy Home Network adds another layer of challenge. Once again, it's as hard as you want to make it, but it definitely gives more of a reason to make your house as great as it can be. And continuously unlocking new items with each villager request is an exciting & fun way to encourage you to keep designing houses, and even go back to old ones once you have new stuff to work with.

I really think a lot of naysayers just had the wrong impression of the game, or thought it would be New Leaf 2.0. It definitely stands out as it's own game, does a lot of things better than New Leaf, and there is a LOT of content. I just think a lot of people who bought this, just really aren't into designing houses. I mean, you wouldn't rate a shooter bad because it is all about shooting.. so why give a home design game bad when it's all about home design?

9/10 for me!

I voted 7/10 only because i really wanna chat with the villagers more heh, other than that i love this game and I LOVE designing the stores

I love it! I can't design anything to save my life! LOL! I'm hopping the game will help me by seeing everyone designs!

Also I love how much you can do with the items. My favorite is standing in front of the ice cream case hit the A button and

you are eating Ice cream or put a villager on a mat and they start doing side bends!!! There are a lot of things like this. I hope one

day they put all this in AC game.

I'm so addicted to this game and I haven't even had it for a week yet. I must've finished 6 designs on my first day with it. Designing and decorating has become one of my favorite activities in the other AC games I own, and was super excited this game was released. I like how the furniture is unlocked, kinda - the only problem with it I have is I'll design a room, but something feels missing - then I go to design the next room and the thing that seems missing is all of a sudden in my catalog. I like how the timing in this game is not really real time, other than the season, so you can finish multiple days at a time, depending on what kind of time you have on your hands. I'm taking classes at my local college and like to leave somewhat early so I can avoid traffic, this has become what I spend that spare half hour to an hour on while I hang around campus :)
The only major thing I don't like, is it's not an open world like the rest of the AC's, but it's something I'm sure will grow on me :)

It's not a masterpiece but it certainly is a lot of fun and they've put a lot of work into it. It shows too!

I voted 8/10

I really like the game. It's not like new leaf where you have chores each day. You can play as little or as much as you want and there is no risk of your villagers leaving. I love that you can have all the villagers in your town. I won't spends hours playing but it's definitely a nice change from New Leaf. I gave it a 10.

i went with 8/10. i'm really enjoying the game, it has some really lovely aspects and fab music and design but it's not got the longevity for me and it's a game i'm probs gonna get burnt out on in a couple of months, that's not a bad thing though! if anything i wouldn't want to get obsessed with it like i did with new leaf. overall definitely worth it for me though

Excellent review! Pretty much summed up what the game is about nicely. Most of the naysayers either fall into the category of not liking interior design or going into it with preconceived notions about it being like New Leaf and not even giving it a chance. I saw several naysayers that changed their minds after playing the game for a while which is good.

I personally voted 8/10. It's probably closer to 8.5 though, that .5 counts!

I would love to kick back at the end of the day and design my own home. I would also like to place furniture diagonally, I'm a bit tired of being stuck with just four directions. I also think a lot of the current and new items could have used more or new re-colour options.

I'm very happy with the game though. I find myself thinking about it a lot during the day, like what I would love to go back and add to a villagers home or how I'd like to change up a facility. The people who speak badly of the game clearly don't enjoy designing as much, which is fine, but they need to realize that this game is based around that. It's just not for them.

i give it an 8/10. its one of relaxing games you put in for 30-45 mins at a time and unwind after a rough day. my only 2 complaints are 1. theres no way to interact with other players like in new leaf; yeah you can visit places theyve designed, but you cant have 4 players hanging out at the music hall or classroom for example. and 2. while villagers unlock things as you go, theres no real way to know who unlocks what (though im sure someone is already working on figuring that out.)

i said this somewhere else, but i'll put it here too. those hating this game are either people who dont like this genre of game or are still bitter about nintendo not showing off animal crossing wii u.

My only complaint about the game is that you didn't have your own home or office to decorate. I rated it an 8/10.

Yea, the furniture thing is fun but that does bug me slightly too, I've been holding off on doing a lot of the bigger facilities because I want to unlock other items first. I was designing my restaurant and noticed a few things missing, and I didn't want to build it without having them. But I guess you can always go back and fine tune them!

$60 is not worth it or a spin off, I'm sorry :(.

$55 is New Leaf in target, though!
That's only if you want to buy the card reader to go with it, which is completely optional. I just paid $40 for the game and I'm having a blast, it feels like a full game to me.

I gave it a 9 out of 10 because I wish I could visit someone else's plaza and chat with friends. But I love designing so it's really fun to play!
