I’m new here and I recently got ACNH so I thought I would join this community since I’m a longtime fan of the Animal Crossing series. I’ve been playing since City Folk came out which was my first one. (I also went back and played the previous two games and then got New Leaf when it came out.) So far New Horizons is very different from what I’m used to so I could use plenty of tips for navigating all the changes in this latest installment.

Anyway my new town is called Starfall (Island) and I can’t wait to get to know everyone here!

Hi there! Welcome to the forums! New Horizons is very different than the previous installments. I think a lot of us were introduced to the series with New Horizons. I personally remember the tutorial phase of this game being rather tedious. It can be rather annoying for someone just looking for a relaxing game to play. The predecessors were a lot more laid-back. Thanks! Happy to be here. And yeah I’m having some mixed feelings about NH so far. There’s a lot I like but I’m not too fond of the crafting aspect of things, tools breaking, and the fact that you have certain tasks or goalposts to work towards instead of the open sandbox that the previous games were where you could do whatever you wanted. But I’m really excited for the new furniture sets and villagers I’ve seen talked about online.

My favorite villager is Stitches, he’s such a cutie pie and I even have his amiibo card so once I get to the point where it lets me bring in new villagers and use the card I’ll be bringing him and become my best friend!

The wholesome feel-good vibes and the smile it puts on my face. It’s such an escape for me with the sweet music, friendly animal neighbors, decorating my house, planting flowers, etc. I prefer games that are chill and free like that over adventure/combat types of games as someone who struggles with anxiety. Animal Crossing has a very calming effect on me.

I definitely agree that crafting and tools breaking is a pain, but I hope you’re enjoying New Horizons so far otherwise! Who were your starter villagers? Do you have any theme(s) in mind for how you want to decorate Starfall, or are you just going to decorate however?

Starfall is a really beautiful island name! I so feel you with the wholesomeness of Animal Crossing, and the music, sweet animal neighbors, etc. It can be such a warm, sweet game!
