Although I understand the anxiety in feeling like if you let an amiibo less villager to you won’t be able to get them back, I think ultimately, if you do not feel attached to them you should let them go. Maybe it is not so easy as an amiibo, they all seem to be available on the new neighbor network, fairly regularly, since people know they are highly sought after.
When I first started playing the game I had Raymond in my campsite and he couldn’t move in cause I had a full island already. Whenever I ask him to move in the person he would say to evict was always Ed.
And I kept saying no cause Ed is my favourite villager me and him go way back since 2013 haha so I told him no.
I then later realised that I had Ed’s Amiibo card (sorry if that’s the wrong spelling) so I could of kicked him out to get Raymond for a bit cause I like cats and I haven’t seen him since so I definitely regret it
Right now I have Reneigh, and I think I'll hold on to her as she's the first uchi I've really clicked with.
Dom and Raymond went to close friends/family so I at least know I could visit them if I wanted, but I still miss them lol
I've had quite a few smugs, and have 2 right now, but I miss seeing Raymond's house. Seeing a little villager live in an office made living in my own litte office and working from home that much easier.
I always try to get their photos first before letting them go.
If I ever feel a very strong attachment to a new villager, I only consider replacing an old favorite who has an amiibo, just like I did with Buzz in favor of Lobo.
Out of the new villagers I only planned on keeping Sherb permanently but I found Raymond and Judy quite early on when island hopping and grew attached to them so they've been on my island ever since.
I've previously been reluctant to let any of them go as they're villagers I really like and I know it could take a while to find them again if I changed my mind but recently I've decided to let Judy go when she next asks to leave as there are some other snooty villagers that I prefer so I'd rather have one of them permanently on my island. If I later change my mind then I can go island hopping or check the new neighbour network, it's not as easy as scanning an amiibo but I know I'd eventually find her again.
I actually prefer some of my starter villagers’ basic generic house interiors more than their actual ones, hence why I have not kicked them. I know that even if I ever brought them back, I could never get back the simplicity of their original interiors.
I dont have any of them from trading or just automatically moving onto my island, but I don’t really want them anyway. None of their designs really strike me fancy, so I won’t be looking for them for any time soon anyway,
I had Judie but then ultimately decided to let her go when she had the thought of moving away. She didn't fit into my island aesthetics at all, and I only took her in because I was curious about her given that she's all new and pink (and very anime girl like). Also, I know she's very popular so could not pass away the opportunity when she just randomly showed up in my campsite.
i’ve only had two of the new villagers (audie and sherb) and audie is a permanent villager of mine. however, i let sherb move out a while back and i have no regrets about it. i genuinely enjoyed having him around, and did contemplate keeping him at one point, but i still don’t regret letting him leave. him not having an amiibo wasn’t one of my reasons for thinking about keeping him, either. i enjoy switching up my villagers as well, and am working on meeting and earning the photos of as many villagers as possible, and know that means having to make sacrifices at times. with sherb, not only was i able to earn his photo, i was able to bond with a villager that i wasn’t interested in beforehand and that’s all that matters to me. him not having an amiibo isn’t important.
