Resident Night Mare
I guess the Housing Gods must have taken pity on me, after how long it took to put the kiddie exterior together for Erin's house in Salem, because everything has popped up so quickly for my "forever house" exterior. Nook had the zen mailbox, which I chose to match the door, and that finishes the look.

It's raining today, so I apologize for the slight blur. I love the way it all came together and think it has the appearance (as close as I can get, anyway) of an old Victorian.
I'm swapping out the hedge along the cliff with pink hydrangea, because I've already used pink azalea a lot near the train station. On the left of the house, I've mapped out an enclosure for a flower garden/yard that stretches behind the house to the river.
And I was going to wait until I'd finished the room to post a picture, but it could take a while, so here's how the upstairs bedroom is coming together.

I really like the way the stately wall goes with the regal carpet, and the furniture with the royal blue finish is pretty, without being overly formal. Not sure if I'll keep all of the mannequins in here; right now, they're left over from the theme challenge. I'm really looking forward to making this more of a home than a collection of rooms that fit a theme.
I almost checked tarantula off the list for Salem. Right off the bat (I got a rather late start because of getting out of work late), I left my house and walked west toward Town Hall, searching for fossils, gyroids, and rocks. Right outside Town Hall was a tarantula! It took me so much by surprise that I fumbled pulling my net out and it skittered away. I finished my rounds, stopping off at Redd's to pick up a Fine Painting for the Museum, then came back to do some more bug hunting. As I approached Town Hall from above, one came running out from behind the building at me. Again, it got away. The third one I saw was closer to my house, near the area I'd marked off for my hedge. I did get the net out and took a swing, but I missed and it bit me. Didn't see any more after that.
Poor Kitt was rather needy last night. Every time I saw her, she pinged me for something. She wanted to buy the jagged tee Vic had sent me. Then she was worried that saying "cutie" was making her sound silly. Finally, she wanted to trade her CD shelf for the vintage telephone I picked up from the NBs.
The manhole cover was open, so I got to go down and meet Don. He and his brother were talking about crocodile birds. I hope this means I'm getting close to receiving their pictures.
It was pouring rain in Hollowyn, so I did a "lick and a promise" run there. Rizzo saw me as I left the house, asking if his catchphrase should be changed (he says "squeek"). I love it, so I told him it made him sound cool. I ran down my rocks and fossils, sold things off to Reese, and then put all the little accessories back in place in my house. I had put sconces, pictures, music boxes, etc. in the basement so they wouldn't mark against me in the theme challenge. But swapping the classic and alpine rooms was enough to put me over the top, so now I can start arranging things to suit me. I'll get some pictures of it, as it is now, so you can see the direction I'm thinking of taking.
I'm also toying with the idea of putting in a manhole in Hollowyn, only it would have to be somewhere not readily visible, so I'm still on the fence about that. Does anyone know if you can get multiple pics from Resetti and Don? If so, I could snag them from Erin to give to Emerald.
Okay, I think I've babbled on enough for today. Tomorrow, I'll try to get a couple pictures of Emerald's house up for you, so look for them.
