Does anyone else feel the same as me?
Let me explain my feelings...
I've always felt like an outsider playing AC because my house is different from other villagers - I mean, I'm technically a villager too right? (◞︎.‸.◟︎)
I never expand my house to become a mansion because I don't want my house to be bigger than the rest of the community in my town... ( ˊ?̥ ?̭ ?̥ )
it makes me feel a little lonely that we have different houses but I do like having an upstairs.
I just wish that my house could be the same size as everyone else's for once... Maybe this is just me and I'm being extremely weird but it's how I've always felt since playing WW in 2006... (๑-﹏-๑)
Also, while we're on the subject of houses... Are there any upgrades you'd appreciate?
You're not alone. I've always liked having a smaller house. One fully expanded main room and maybe an upstairs for my bedroom because still like to have that separate. Maybe it's because that's what I've always done in the gamecube game. At one point in New Leaf I had just one room in my house and it was super cute.
Personally I can't think of any upgrades for houses I'd want. Especially considering that I have no plans on fully upgrading mine anyway.
i usually just do the bigger houses as i like completing the loans (im a bit of a completionist haha) but i do see the appeal of the smaller houses. Im not very creative and it took me 6 years to finally finish designing my house the way i liked it.
Your not alone. I kinda like having a small house too, but in a different sorta of way. I only would expand the main room fully and have an upstairs room that's not expanded fully, but just a little bit. Sometimes small rooms look more cozier when it's not expanded all the way. I remember seeing one girl's house in the Dream Suite in New Leaf who did that and she manage to decorate the small room just nicely. So yeah, small rooms are great!
If I had to add more stuff to the house, I would love to see curtains on the windows and ceiling items. Those were really neat to decorate with in Happy Home Designer, so I would love those.
They had these in HHD! I'm pretty sure they're going to add them again like they have with curtains.
I really like the smaller rooms but I also love to decorate my place with lots and lots of stuff so I'm not sure what I'd prefer. I do hope we have more customization with the placement and shapes of our rooms and whatnot. I also hope they add ceiling furniture and more garland-y type stuff 'cuz I think it's so cute.
I remember there being (mostly baseless) speculation before New Leaf about being able to upgrade villager houses. I think a lot of player's would enjoy having control over how the villager's house looks. As for the player house, I am hoping the house isn't divided into rooms that require a short loading window when traversing between them. I'd like to see a seamless transition between rooms, perhaps even being able to see them when you aren't in them.
I'm kinda with you on this one. I hated expanding my house and not knowing how to decorate all those extra rooms back in NL. I've never played HHD or PC but from what I've seen it looks like a lot of new furniture has been introduced in the past few years and we can also place it in ways that feel more "organic", so I'm hoping decorating will be more fun in NH. I don't even know if they will actually give us the possibility to live in a big house like in the previous games, considering we're stranded on a deserted island.
For a while now, I preferred having a more smaller house, as I don't even know what to do with all the space if I would have had a fully expanded one. I mostly only upgraded my house in getting the second floor and the basement along with the main room, that's pretty much it. It's more cosy that way for me.
As for upgrades, if they would add the features from Happy Home Designer, then I would be really happy. Otherwise, being able to have a smaller main room and not getting forced to upgrade it into it's full size would be nice, would be useful if you want that each room has the same size for example.
