How do I get Gigi to move in?

Today I invited Gigi to the campsite. But she won't move in? She says I have to invite her a couple more times, but I'm worried that a villager will move in to one of the open plots before she does.

Did you use an amiibo to get her to the campsite, or did she appear on her own?

Did you get this sorted? Sounds like we need to talk to Amiibo characters on three consecutive days.
