I've seen the bugs on other people's islands, but I have no idea how to get them. Can you tell me?

All the good bugs come out at about 7 pm. They show up on the trees and are very sensitive so walk slowly. They are worth a lot and they show up often so it's a good way to earn bells all year long.

If you mean physically get them, you need to get a net from the gyroid who's standing just outside the hut. Sorry if this isn't what you meant, I don't like being a captain obvious :p

Love's timing is correct. 2x Palm trees, one at each side of the island are all trees you need. Cut the rest down, the bushes too are maybe useless.

So 1 tree on the left, 1 tree on the right and cut the rest down?

I go at any time of the night really, but 7 p.m. probably is the best time, but i wish I knew how long it takes them to spawn on the trees.

Yes, you could leave a regular tree @ the center but it'll primarily spawn low value stag beetles, fruit beetle, & the rare midrange jewel beetle. Really a poor selection when you compare it to what the Palm trees will spawn. Just to clarify, I would also remove flowers & the bushes. UNLESS you still req. some Summer butterflies for the Museum, then leave the flowers + bushes. Though once you have acquired them all, get rid of them as the value of Palm Tree beetles dwarf these butterflies.

Always go @ nighttime 7PM; is a good starting point. Besides these expensive beetles, always nab the shark should they spawn. Good luck!

Some of my tips:
-Scare away anything you don't want, this significantly speeds up rarer spawns.
-Frequently run around the perimeter of the beach to scare away any hermit crabs that have spawned.
-Any wharf roaches swing your net at, (but so you won't catch them) to scare them away.
-If you see an elephant, hercules or golden stag then give yourself plenty of space to creep up to it with the net cocked (holding A as you walk) as they scare really easily IF they are sat still. Creeping while they are jiggling about on the tree makes you far less likely to scare them until you get way too close. If the bug is sat completely still, don't do anything until it starts jiggling.
-If you don't opt to cut down most of your trees, then at the least move the trees on the south edge a bit further up the beach. it is far easier to catch the bugs on them from below than from the side, and you see them a little sooner.

This is my personal method. It's just the way I like to do things:

I got rid of all flowers/trees in the center of the island, leaving only the palm trees on the beach. I walk around the perimeter and catch any beetles that I stumble across. Once I've made a full circle back to the building I go inside for about 5 seconds and come back out. This allows more beetles to spawn, I suppose? It's just my logic ^.^ I then repeat the process and I get a full inventory of beetles within a half an hour or less!

Hiya Mayor Technal, unfortunately the polka dot dresser you gave me clashed with the other items in my home. But it's okay, Reese took it for a totally great price!

Lol no, Mari is referring to the fact that my name/picture is a villager in the game that he/she gave a dresser to in-game. But shh, nobody knows I'm not actually Freya! Hush! xD

Alright. I left two palm trees on the left and right side. What bugs should I be looking for? Could you send pictures?

I kept all the trees on the beach. I don't have a problem with it and very rarely scare beetles away. In fact, the advantage is it forces me to circle the island so I'm more likely to see sharks if/when they spawn.

You just have to occasionally check the middle to see if a bunch of wharf roaches spawned there and scare them off.

Look at this link if you really want pictures. Basically, if it's a bug sitting on a palm tree, it's worth catching.
