As I have been ordering lots of arts recently, I wanted to get a good reference sheet to save time...but I don't know how! Could anyone give me some instructions or advice?
I'm just gonna list some good points to include in a character's reference sheet. Anything after iii is optional.
i. Character's basic information (name, approx. age, species, etc)
ii. Colour reference for hair, eyes, skin, maybe clothing if they have a special outfit
iii. Detailed reference for face or eyes or even scars, depends on if your character has any highlightable features you wouldn't want artists to miss
iv. Close-up headshots featuring a few expressions like anger, sadness, happiness
v. Personality if you want to include it
i think it depends on whether or not it's being made for a mayor or an OC! an OC ref sheet should have personality, physical characteristics, and maybe extra add-ons like a plush toy or something that can be requested. i'm pretty sure that those sheets have more detail than one for a mayor. mayor ref sheets tend to have favorite villagers, full outfit (QR code if possible), and in-game refs. OC refs tend to have more drawings and commissions while mayor ref sheets can differ. if you're looking for a ref sheet maker, i highly recommend both pengutango and simple! if you go to simple's shop i would be super grateful if you said that i referred you c:
