how do I modify a custom avatar?

Every time I want to put up a costume avatar or a pic, it keeps saying the maxium size can only be 25kb
So, how do I adjust the size of of a custom avatar?

if you host it on a site like imageshack.us you can paste the URL in the box and have avatars with bigger sizes

well I tried it but it just gets rid of my avatar

did you put it in the right area?

there's one for uploading and one for adding URLs

I tried the ULR which didn't work, then I tried the uploading one,
then I tied the uploading one with the original pic and pasted the image from imageshackerus onto the ulr.
it's okay, I'm sure I'll figure it out, maybe I need to try a different pic
