Whenever I show people my artwork in real life, I get showered with compliments. My family members especially like my artwork and would sometimes tell me I should work for Disney or something like that. As a child, drawing was a huge interest of mine. I used to draw a ton of ocs and all sorts of fictional characters from my fixations at the time. I even created comic series and dreamt of creating my own cartoon/comic series one day.

As for people online, well, the reactions are mostly positive. I have gotten a few hate comments on my artwork every now and then, which made me feel bad about my artwork. Sometimes I joke about how I "draw like a 6 year old" and that I "can't draw." I would often feel jealous of other artists and compare my art to theirs and thinking they were better artists than me. I would even post my artwork online and ask for constructive criticism or ask people to rate my art out of 10 or 100 in an effort to try and boost my confidence.

I've had mixed opinions on my artwork since I was a kid, but I've mostly gotten positive comments. I used to make comics in elementary school, and I would make a bunch for our school's "newspaper" (which was just a single sheet of paper about school events and announcements). I've had classmates tell me they loved my comics, which was nice to hear especially since I had an impression that they didn't like me back then.

That isn't to say that every piece I made had the best responses. I made a satirical comic once, and one of the panels featured my parents arguing about something (which wasn't even serious in retrospect). My parents weren't happy about it and told me to throw it out, which I was naturally upset about. T_T I've also had some people make a few rude judgements about my art, which demotivated me to the point where I stopped entirely. (I've gotten over it at this point, though.)

Anyway... I'm glad I got to share my art on TBT because I've gotten nothing but kindness and support from many lovely members here, even when my art started off as, well... Not good. I've improved over the past three years, and I probably wouldn't have the motivation to continue making art if it weren't for their support.

Every so often, I come back to some advice one of my friends gave me a few years ago: "Don't compare your art to others'. Compare your own art to see how much you've improved and gotten better. As long as you're happy with your work, that's what matters." I still think it's quite relevant to me. ❤️

On Twitter, the artists doing the art share were really kind and encouraging. I thought for a long time other comments were positive but now I realize they were either passive aggressive or kinda rude like when I shared a sketch of fire emblem characters as animal crossing villagers or a persona 5 animal crossing crossover drawing someone was like: “Animal crossing, why am I not surprised.” I shared a picture of a drawing I did of Final Fantasy XV food and someone was like, “Why food?” I have no plans sharing there anymore. Plus I’m taking a break from there.

I’ve gotten a more positive response here and a lot of encouragement; I feel more comfortable posting here and plan on sharing more when I can. I was thinking of making a new art thread for my art eventually too once I finish a drawing that I’m doing.

People are thankfully almost always really sweet to me. I still like having a smaller audience because it seems to mean less drama.
