I know TBT does not condom cheating/hacking but there's already too much dirty money in the system now. I'm afraid to do business online and items are sure to raise in value because of the influx of bells.

It isn't like this is the first time animal crossing had a dupe method. I assume if it gets really bad most people will mainly do item for item swaps or forum bell swaps for items.

Agreed with the above. All AC communities, including this one, will sort themselves out. All the Bells in the world won't get you a particular crafting recipe you want, when you want it, so item-item trades will probably end up being the norm in most places.

Besides, at least where I'm at in the game, Bells aren't as important as crafting materials. Plus they're fairly easy to get legitimately. I'm not a high roller by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm earning Bells at a good enough clip to keep up with what I need them for.

I haven’t duped yet...trying to grind for these house upgrades are tough, though....need to max out my turnips next week

It's honestly up to the players to avoid trading with suspiciously priced items at this point, as in not selling one thing for ridiculous amounts of money. But you can't stop people from doing it, people are gonna do what they want to. Kinda hard for TBT to determine who is doing it sometimes, but some people make it blatantly obvious. There have been people paying 500k+ per Miles tickets, and I actively avoid them to not spoil the game for myself and so that I don't encourage it. I try to be sure to only trade with people who seem genuine and are buying for fair prices. Profit < Game quality in my eyes.

Yet? You probably shouldn't at all lol

I wish it wasn’t a thing and I really hope they will patch it. But you could duplicate items in new leaf as well.

If people are going to cheat anyway, they really should have allowed cloud saves for the peace of mind of the rest of us. For there to be rampant cheating so early on seems like they dropped the ball somewhere.

Unless somebody is a known duper, there's really no way to know if an item is duped or not because it's the same as a non-duped item. You can probably assume someone's a duper if an item is super rare and/or super expensive and they somehow have a lot of them. But otherwise you just don't really know.

I agree with Miss Misty - bells are important, but they're not nearly as important as crafting materials right now. I'm constantly running low on things like tree branches and iron nuggets thanks to needing to craft tools. But they're still easy to get if you put in the time to go hit some rocks or shake trees.

Honestly, unless you're really impatient for something, I don't see too much of a need to trade right now. There's no regional exclusive stuff yet, so really the only harder stuff to get is your non-native fruit (like always), the posters you can get from scanning amiibo, and possibly the Pocket Camp stuff if you don't don't have a PC account.

Yeah the fear rn is that there's a lot of cheated bells going in to the market which we all know from basic economy will result in inflation. I really hope TBT staff decides to ban anyone found to be cheating so people here don't fall in the trap of circulating the cheated money.

This also happened back in NL when the online dupe glitch was found, hopefully just like last time it'll sort itself out again

Its always happened in animal crossing, and back when I played new leaf I'm 99% sure a lot of the region exclusive rare items I bought from people were duped. I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't mind it either... I dont know if there are still region exclusives in acnh, but this was basically the only way people who didnt live in Japan could get stuff like the 7-11 set in acnl. A lot of people were also super generous and would give them away for free.

I do think nintendo seems to have decreased the reliance on bells a lot for this game, so not sure if duping will be that big of a deal here. Seems like a lot of the cute items are obtained from recipes, so even if you have bells it'll be harder to find someone who can craft things for you.
