Earlier today I did a trade with someone. The price was 4mil bells.
I have a 4x4 square (16 spaces) set up by my station for people to place whatever they're carrying. Because 16 slots is what is in the pockets, right?

Well, this person I was doing the trade with left sixteen 99k bell bags on the 4x4 square, and then left another four 99k bell bags on the grass. Making them carry a total of 20 items at a time.

Technically, yes. However, you can carry more than 16 items if you're carrying letters. You can attach anything, besides creatures, to the letters, giving you a total of 26 slots.

EDIT: This is assuming that the letters have nothing currently attached to them. I personally use them to carry my equipment (shovel, net, fishing rod, etc.)

Ohhh, I had forgotten about letters being able to hold stuff. Thanks for clearing that up :)

yep letters! I use my full bottom slot of letters to hold all my tools as well :) I like having free pockets!

If he is carrying maxed out money in his money slot, he can have 16 items in his inventory, 10 items in his mail, a bag of 99,000 bells and a stack of 900 bells from his money slot, hat, accessory, shirt, pants (they can both be taken off using a dress pattern), shoes, socks, and a tool in his hands. That means that, without accessing storage or the ATM, he can drop 35 items in one go. More, if he breaks the money or stacked items down into smaller units (which would be silly).

That's smart! Hope you don't mind if I start doing the same with my tools ^u^

Oh gosh! I'm definitely going to start using my letter slots for item storage now! :D

Oh great. Yet another tip I'm just now learning. My tools take up so much space. So glad ya'll are here to help.

Been carrying tools in my letter slots since the GC game, it's always been the easiest way!

Also, if you didn't know about that, you may not have know about your storage space at the post office -- attach any item to a piece of mail and save it with Pelly/Phyllis. That's where I've always kept complete sets I don't use often so they don't waste closet space (jingle, spooky, etc). Try to organize it though, or you will never be able to find anything when you want it back out!

eh - i keep my shovel, can, net and rod out. my wet suit, axe and microphone are in my mail. if you see a rare bug i dont think you'll be able to whip out your net fast enough.

also cute madoka magica icon ahhh

I've used my letter slots to hold my tools since WW. So much easier. Just take out what you need when you need it. First thing in the morning I take out the shovel, fishing pole & bug net. Then when I need the axe, sling shot, watering can or wet suit, I just pull them out. I don't carry around the megaphone or toy hammer, but if you wanted to you could.

I completely forgot you could save mail at the post office. This is going to be amazing for storage space! Thank you!
