How many villagers?

How many villagers can a New Leaf town have? I thought 9, but I visited a town which had 10 houses.

Is there a set amount of time for someone new to move in, when one of the 9 villagers will have moved out tomorrow?

You can have 10. If you have the campsite you can get a tenth to move in from there, but if you wait long enough with 9, then the game moves someone in for you!

Also when you have 9 you can grab one from another villager : P

Will the campsite disappear or stay empty once you have a 10th?

I got my 9th house now, so until someone moves out I won't have to worry about a new villager placing their bum right in a flower patch.

Campers will still come. Doesn't matter if you have 10 villagers or less. But if there is no room for them to move in (10 villagers and no one moving out), then you can't talk them into moving in.
