I'm in the process of putting down paths that I will line mainly with bushes. I plan to leave gaps here and there so that I can access all areas of town - probably a single square opening. There will be plenty of areas that are open and accessible without the paths, so I'm not condemning my villagers to only trod the brick walkways, but if I have those openings so I can get in to dig fossils, tend fruit trees and flowers, etc., does anyone know just how smart they may be at getting in, and more importantly, getting back out? The last thing I need is for my whole village to be permanently camped in an area, never getting back to their houses.

This may seem like a silly question, but I've already observed that, while adorable, some of the villagers are a few sandwiches short of a picnic. ;)

While I don't have an answer to your topic your "few sandwiches short of a picnic" comment has made my day.

Some of the villagers can be smart, and some of them can be silly.

Most of them are in the middle, neither smart nor silly.

My work is done! :D

That's what I figured. I'll just continue with my plan and if any are silly enough to get trapped, it's their own fault. :)

That picnic joke made my day, And While I don't understand what you're doing I like the sound of, but it might not work. I dug holes in front of a villager I want to move out 's house, They still managed to get out even with the holes there -_-

I think that answers my question, JunJun. If they can get out of being surrounded by holes, I guess I don't need to worry too much about them getting off of lined paths and stuck in open areas for days on end. Thanks!

I don't get this thread. If you can get in/out of an open area, so can they.

I agree. The thread is generally pointless. Granted, they're asking if the villagers are smart enough to get out of the area at a relatively decent speed instead of messing around in the area as if they couldn't get out, but still. Pointless.

They're only be trapped if you actually witness them coming out of their house.

Thank you for your critique. I didn't think it was pointless, because I am trying to determine how I lay out my town before discovering that the villagers are getting stuck for any amount of time before I put all the time and energy into laying paths and planting bushes.
