How to get Amiibo to agree to move in?

I have Maple as an amiibo and I invited her to stay, she is at my campsite. I made her a log bench as requested and she turned me down :(

I already placed a lot for her to move in. I don't want some rando moving in!!! Can I stop it, or is there a way to get her to change her mind?

You need to invite her three times. It doesn't have to be in a row, but three times total. Once you give her the third item she'll agree to move in. If a rando does take her space, no worries! You'll be able to choose who to make move out in order to give her a spot, just choose the rando and send them packing and Mable with be in the day after next. :)

Ah okay. I've got 4 villagers who I don't particularly like so I may get a good one one move in then I'll be able to get rid of one of the others :)

I wanted a black cat and a grey cat as that's what I have at home but I have realised the grey cat is the most rare villager

It's important to note you can only do this if you have 10 villagers.

You mean Raymond? He's not really the most rare, just one of the most popular (the only reason he might be seen as rare is because he doesn't have an Amiibo, but none of the new ones do yet). And, if anything, that can make him EASIER to find because a lot of players will let him move in given the chance- even if they only intend to "sell" him to someone else. He can be expensive to buy off someone else, but it can give you something to save for.

But, if you're just looking for a gray cat, Lolly is also gray and much more common- there's an Amiibo for her and I'm pretty sure at least one of the "shops" on the NEw Neighbor Network (on here) has her.

Anyway, your main question was answered, I just thought I'd clarify that!

Raymond? He's not that rare. He has the same chance of showing up as all the other villagers do. But he doesn't have an amiibo card and is popular. If you want another gray cat, Lolly is a cute choice too.

True! Forgot to mention that!

I'd like a grey cat - mine is called Dax and he is 8 years old :) I also have Ezri who is 4 years old and she is a black cat 🐱

So is that 10 villagers plus myself?

At the moment I have Me plus 8 villagers. The new rando that will inevitably move in will make 9 villagers and me.
No- "villagers" means animals. Your island can have a total of ten so, if you reach ten, you'll need to move someone else out to move someone else in. But, if you don't already have ten villagers, she'll just move straight in if you have a plot.

Thanks for all your help :)

I'll invite her twice more then and build her a plot for her to move in on just before I ask her the 3rd time :)

If I recall correctly, cats are the rarest on the island tours, because there are so many. I believe that the more faces to a certain species, the less likely they are to show up, which is why the octopi, who only have three, are more likely to show up.

All that said, I have both Lolly and Raymond from island hopping; I believe in you !!

Fun fact: You do not need 10 villagers to force someone out. You just need to have no empty plots. You can force someone out with an amiibo card once Tom Nook gives you the option of more villagers, EG after the first 6 move ins. You can start a 'purge' of sorts once you have six houses and move them all out as you wish before buying a new plot and putting in someone.

Is that new? Whenever I tried in the beginning Tom Nook required I buy land from him. I never wanted 10 villagers since it led to duplicates

I don't think it is, but it's possible it wasn't available to do right away. I can't say I did this recently as it was months ago, but, I don't really think it is, because I know from the beginning, your villagers could leave by choice with less than ten.

Maybe I'm misremembering, I'll check later on and see and edit my post to say to take it with a grain of salt, lol. It's been months since I did this, moving out Rocket to my bro because he loves the gorillas and I hate most of them eternally.

If I've got a plot waiting to be built now, can I go island hopping now to see if I can get someone I like? If I go to mystery islands, will the same villager keep showing up, or is it a random one each time?

Here, still not possible
