I was forced to move Ed in, and I really don't want him. Is there a quick way to kick him out?

since you're at the same stage as me with 6 villagers, no, sadly.
in order to boot them out immediately, you need 10 villagers and an amiibo card of a villager afaik

I think as far as moving them out naturally, like previous games, you just gotta wait. quite horrible, I know.
apparently ignoring them helps, but people said that in acnl and it never helped for me (plus you get nook miles for talking to your villagers each day)

Honestly the best way in this game is too flat out ignore them, don't say anything to them at all!

Giving you a bump, because I'm also wondering if anyone has discovered any insights for this?

My contribution is that Walker had a thought bubble above his head the day my 9th villager moved in. I talked to him and he asked to move- he's in boxes today!
I have several villagers I've been actively ignoring hoping they'll go, and had moderate friendship with Walker so idk!

Flo, Rodney, and Bubbles have GOT to go from my island ASAP though so... haha

it did work in new leaf, but you had to ignore them COMPLETELY. Literally can't even have one dialogue with them or they will start getting the regular patterns

I'm still stunned that we can actually kick them out with Amiibo cards, though!! I know we don't all have access, but I got my (admittedly low-tier) dreamie T-Bone on Amazon for only $5 shipping included. I think this is an excellent feature that Nintendo has given us!

Even without the Amiibo cards, I had one new villager move in each day until I had 10, and then a villager asked to move out the next day!

ooooh, yeah. I can imagine this being where I went wrong, since I often hit them with a net and pushed them around too (lol)

Actually ignoring them doesn't help.
Move outs are completely random.
