This was something my friends have always disagreed with me on, so I’d like to hear your thoughts. Typically, mid 50s (Fahrenheit) are when I stop wearing jackets, and I’ll want to wear shorts if it gets above 60°F. I have friends that will still be wearing hoodies in 80°F, and I always think they’re crazy. I guess it doesn’t help that I live in the south but can’t stand heat haha.

So what do you think? How warm does it need to get before you’ll want to wear shorts?

I don't wear shorts. May be I'd be open to them if I didn't have dogs and it was hot inside the house. I usually just wear pants, capris, or if it is hot in the house because of trying to keep the electrical bill down, I'll wear a casual dress. I hate dresses, so for me to wear one, I'd have to be pretty uncomfortable to begin with. Sometimes I'll just go around in my underwear instead. But dog claws aren't fun and a dress kind of protects your legs a little vs shorts. I also don't wear dresses outside the house.

I think the inside temperature of the house for me to wear them would have to be in the upper 80s. Where I live it is almost always humid, so we don't have the dry heat. Dry heat is rare and when it is around it is a lot more tolerable than the humid heat.

At the end of the day, my favorite is capris. However I am short... So me finding capris that actually fit as capris is a challenge. Usually capris on me is actually pants. Regular old capris are my pants in my closet right now. Bermuda shorts aren't fashionable right now where I am at, and those fit me as capris. I'd love to get some sometime so I can actually have capris for real 😅

Wearing pants sucks so I honestly love wearing shorts or anything loose-fitting year round, at least when I'm home.

I'm super cold tolerant if im moving in any capacity (like walking around going shopping or doing work at school) so I try to err on the side as cool as possible. Only in like the 40s or 50s will i not wear shorts, but you defo wouldnt catch me dead in long sleeves unless i had to.

Because of where i live theres literally only a small itty bitty amount of time in winter where it gets cold enough for me to NEED to wear a jacket or even long pants.
Also though I have big thighs and most shorts tend to ride up real bad. So nowadays I opt for thinner, loose fitting pants that basically feel like I'm wearing nothing past a certain point on my legs.

Tl;Dr I'm wearing shorts unless there's frost on the grass for like the 1 week out of the year, I don't want em riding up on my thighs, or if I'm required otherwise (like for school)

Where is the "You'll never catch me out of the house in anything but shorts" option 🤔 jk

For real though, it is quite warm all year round where I live (equator things) so if the situation doesn't call for formal wear or fancy outfits or Sunday mass then I'm almost always in shorts 😌 it is cozy!! Pants make my legs itchy : (

I live in the tropics so it's pretty much always warm here and everyone here always wears shorts, but I pretty much mostly wear jeans. I wear shorts if I'm going to do errands that won't take me a long time at all and don't want to be bothered to put on jeans but if I'm going to work or just out for a long time I like to wear jeans.

i love shorts. unfortunately, i am very cold intolerant (but heat tolerant) and so there isn't much opportunity for me to wear them, unless it's with leggings. it takes around 25C before i'll considering wearing shorts alone. usually, i only do it during a heatwave, which aren't super common here in the UK lmao. we had a warmer week all of last week, enough that everyone i work with was wearing short sleeves and complaining about it while i was in a sweater, jacket and winter coat so-

I mean technically I’ll wear shorts year-round since I’ll wear them for sleeping or working out, but I don’t wear them as regular clothes until it gets to the high 60s.

I wear them a lot. I like the feel and the look of shorts a lot, especially recently, but I haven't worn them outside (as in going out for meet ups etc) lately because I'm afraid I'll blind everyone with my reflective legs. That's no joke though, I literally can't look at my skin in the sun without being blinded because of how white I am, it's not even funny (okay it is a little), but I guess that's what happens to you when for years you've never exposed any more than your hands and face to sunlight. I'm extremely tolerant of both heat and cold, so I can wear layers of coats, hoodies and flannels, and jeans with thick socks on a 23° day (this is how I got that vitamin d deficiency 🔥) but also survive well in a thin shirt and shorts at around 4°. I definitely prefer knee length shorts though, far superior to other lengths.

I wear shorts as pyjamas year-round, but outside shorts I only wear during summer (regardless of weather, I just don't want to be that one guy who wear a t-shirt and shorts 24/7/365. I also don't wear shorts at PE in school or mass. No way am I showing off my legs to the other guys in my group, they're far too obsessed with leg hair for it to be a normal affair of just wearing comfortable stuff for gym class 💀

I wear both pants and shorts. It just depends on what I am doing. There's a lot of ticks and snakes where I live so sometimes I go for pants even if it's really hot because I don't want to get lyme disease. My sister has it and still struggles from it even after being recovered. Seeing her randomly pass out years ago really scared me.

It gets really cold where I live so I don't during that time. Or at least not when outside. Inside is a different story.

Probably 70s-80s as long as it's not too windy or rainy. It's often cold here and there's only an average of about 3 months when it feels mostly warm. I seem to be more sensitive to cold than most people and even indoors temps are usually too cool for me to want to wear shorts.
