Hurawalhi: A Tropical Paradise In The Making

After resetting once again, I decided to make a journal for Hurawalhi, my newest island. I have my mind set on a tropical paradise, and whilst I don't think that goal will ever be achieved due to your local goomy's lackluster terraforming and landscaping skills, I'm going to try as hard as I can, darnit. I don't know how frequently this will be updated, but there's going to be quite a few during the early game as I get new villagers and get everything set up. I'll also try to include as many photos as possible.

Entry 1: Humble Beginnings

After arriving on the island of Hurawalhi, I, Munna June, who pledge to turn this deserted wasteland into a tropical paradise, set up my beachside tent.

Next, also on the beachside, I set a tent up for Roald, my first island b-b-buddy.

Next to a nice peach tree that she can climb up, I set up Canberra's tent. Something tells me that the tree will be put to good use with someone like her living next to it.

The official naming of the island. As you can see, all of the choices were pretty good. Tommytown was a close second.

I respond to Tom Nook's question with the only correct answer.

Finally, we end things off with a toast! I'm excited to see how this island will play out. I'm excited to see what I can come up with, and I hope that this journal will be of some entertainment to a few of you. I know it will be for me.

Hey all, sorry about abandoning this journal so suddenly. I did a lot of unnecessary time traveling, made a lot of mistakes, and the entries were just...boring. This is going to be more of a daily highlights blog so my screenshots don't clog the thread on the main NH board. Though, I'm still trying my best to make Hurawalhi the tropical paradise I want it to be!

Here's a semi-current layout of the map and residents. I'm in the process of moving everyone's houses inside of the spiral. I only need two or three more to complete it, then I'll work on cliffs.

As for today's highlights...

Jeez, Eunice! You've never even been to my house! Oh, well. I know what I'm giving her for her birthday.

Really? I don't think so. The only elephant I've ever asked for advice was Cyd, and he went on about how he threw a computer away because he couldn't figure out how to use it.

Erik and Willow, enjoying a drink and hanging out on the bench. They seem to get along, which I didn't expect from a snooty and a lazy.

Now, I'm not saying that I need to build a fence around Audue's house, but I can't have any murders here on Hurawalhi. That won't sit well with tourists.

Showing off my newly caught scorpion to someone I KNOW will appreciate it.

After Eunice made that comment about the broom and dustpan, she decided to head out. Looks like I'll be greeting my newest neighbor tomorrow!

This is going to be a long post, as I have a few days' worth of stuff to share! Firstly, I've decided that I'm no longer going to TT on Hurawalhi. I have nothing against it, but I've unfortunately lost two of my good villagers from people offering me a villager I'd like to have, then as soon as I have a plot, revealing that the villager's either gone or not in boxes. Also, from my TTing endeavors, I ended up getting two models in one day, which to me, just seems like cheating, as I'm trying to get every fish and bug model naturally. So, yeah, no more TTing for me.

I was very nervous when Julian unwrapped Audie's gift, a camo tee, but she picked out the right color! He doesn't look too bad in it!

Hurawalhi's current map. As you can see, I moved the Able Sisters and got my first cliff built! This is going to be Flick's Garden, where I display all of the bug models, as well as some nice hybrids. The beach next to it will most likely be C.J.'s Cove, which features the fish.

Speaking of bugs, I managed to catch three golden stags and a horned hercules in one night! This means that I officially have three of every rare beetle! Now I just need to wait for Flick to come around again.

As I mentioned, I got two new models. From C.J., I got the ocean sunfish. From Flick, though not pictured here, I got the scarab beetle.

Old Man Lobo FINALLY sitting in the chair! His plot used to be Roald's, and for the life of me I couldn't get him to sit in it!

Old Man Lobo also had fleas. Willow is choosing to look away.

Adopting my newest neighbor, Dizzy, from someone on Nookazon

I've been having some self-acceptance issues lately, so I decided to make my character resemble me a bit more, as well as download some more punk/grunge clothing from the portal. The idea for Hurawalhi remains the same, the island rep will just be a bit...edgier.

Current map, including Dizzy and my second cliff. This is going to be my Festivale marketplace! I'll show you guys some pictures once I develop it a bit more.

Hey guys! This update is gonna be a long one, considering that I was on vacation and didn't have access to an internet connection. A lot happened on Hurawalhi!

On Friday:

Raymond, doing a spot of fishing. He's really into it.

Maybe the smugs just don't care about fish? Or maybe it has to be competitive, 'cause Julian was REALLY into the last fishing tourney.

The first meteor shower on Hurawalhi! I wished for Audie to forget about the knife block that she received a few days ago.

The plaza was packed tonight! I loved Audie and Julian's little duet.

Yesterday:

Some goofy bug-off clothes! I especially loved Old Man Dobie's.

Old Man Cyd, before and after. Looks like bug catching wore him out. And yeah, I reverted back to blonde and dropped the punk aesthetic already.

C.J. was in town Friday, so I nabbed myself a rainbowfish model. That's my 23rd model and fish number 11!

I love it when I catch a bug and Flick claps for me. I can't say this enough. Best. Boy.

Elephant buddies! I like to imagine Cyd being a mentor of sorts to Dizzy, whether the old man likes it or not...

Dobie really does give off "confused grandpa" vibes and I adore him. Best Nook Miles Island find ever.

No photo update yet, but I'm highly considering giving Hurawalhi a more farm-related theme, adding and area for crops and livestock, as well as a pumpkin patch. I thought about turning the marketplace into one of these, but I'm very unsure. I don't think having a big farm maintains the image of Hurawalhi being a tropical paradise very well.

Spring rolls with peanut butter? I've personally never tried it, but Megan seems to enjoy the idea. I love when she gets those little sparkles in her eyes ❤

An outfit that Dizzy brought over from his previous island! He was well-loved by the person I got him from on Nookazon, so that's always nice to see ☺

Third banded dragonfly! Now I just have to wait for Flick.

I should also mention that in my TTing endeavors to get all of my bridges and inclines torn down, I got three more models. For fish, I got the whale shark. For bugs, I went for the cyclommatus stag and horned elephant. This brings my model count to 25.

Just designed a very, VERY basic template for what I'd like Hurawalhi's new map to be. The idea isn't 100% original, I got my idea for the shape of the rivers and cliffs from a theoretical design on Reddit, but I'm going to take this design and give it a tropical twist!

As you can see, the areas that stick out from the cliffs are my little peninsula on the side, which I plan to turn into a little relaxation station, as well as a path that allows me to go to my private beach or pay Redd a visit. As for where I'm actually going to live, I plan on building a cliff somewhere on the left side of the map, connect a smaller river to my main one, and have my resident rep live in a water bungalow, using both natural water and custom designs! Though, I do plan on turning the area around the res services building into a little shopping district, so I'm also considering putting my house on a secluded part of the already existing cliffs. I know for sure that the flat land on the right side of the island is going to be used for some kind of tropical farm. I'm thinking either cacao or coconuts...maybe both!! I'm still planning some other amenities, though I know I'm going to feature my "Flick's Garden" and "C.J.'s Cove" ideas, which show off the fish and bug models, as well as an orchard somewhere.

Currently, I've just finished waterscaping and I'm moving onto the river now. if you guys have any suggestions, please lmk!

I had some excess fruit in my system from moving trees, so I had to...get rid of it

Willow, you took the words right out of my mouth.

This football shirt fits Audie very well! Better than the stupid baby romper Raymond gifted her on a previous island of mine. Though I hope she doesn't plan on wearing those designer sunglasses to a real football game.

Terraforming, day 1. It looks silly now, but it should start looking a lot better in the future...I hope. Also, as you can see by the villagers, Deirdre asked to move out, and I decided not to stop her, as I'm trying to cycle out some villagers with this island and not cofine myself to 10 permanent ones. Thus, we have a new sisterly villager, Agnes the pig!

I'm unlocking this thread because Fogford's save data just got corrupted, unfortunately. Any backup efforts failed and I'm forced to restart. I'm thinking of bringing Hurawalhi back, but hunting for Fogford's map!
