Hybrid Flower Growing Question

I am trying to grow Black Roses and "Special" Red Roses in my town. I have tons of X patterns of strictly Reds and X patterns with 1 Orange in the middle of 4 Whites to produce the Special Reds. My strictly Red X's are producing a few Blacks but mostly Pinks. My Orange and White X's are producing Red, Yellow and White. Is this normal for flowers to create colors that they shouldnt be? For instance why are my all reds making pinks and why are orange and white producing yellows? One thing to add is my towns native flower is Roses, could that be why or is it just completely normal? Thanks in advance.

My Native flower is also roses and I do not experience what you are describing.

I do not believe red and orange is a valid combination for breeding, however, which may be why you're getting other colors around that combo.

I'm not a TT so I've only been at this for a week or so:
Red + Red has provided me with Black roses, I think I have 3 black so far based on a huge grid containing about 20 red roses
White + White has provided me with Purple roses, I have spawned only one purple rose in a similar grid of white roses

I have not managed to make any Blue roses with Oranges yet.. I have far fewer Orange roses than the other colors so this makes sense.

Have your Red + Red ever given you any Pink? Mine do frequently.

No, Pink comes from Red + White. You probably have some overlap in your grid where these are being created. Look in an area 3x3 around each flower. If one 3x3 zone contains a Red and a White I believe only then can you spawn a Pink.

Of course if you have pinks in that area it can happen too.

Nope. There is not one white flower around at all. Its all reds as far as the eye can see and yet I still get Pinks.

The majority of my roses came from the nook island and not from seeds.....perhaps that has something to do with it?

It could be, I suppose, but I wouldn't expect that to make a difference. I use native flowers and flowers from seeds, but I'm sure I've also used some from mystery islands. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will have a better response for that.

That what I thought too. I dont know why I am getting pinks from red + red and yellows from white + orange.
