I can't upload an "animated image"

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm trying to put a gif in my signature, but it says I'm not allowed to put an animated image. What do I do?

make sure the image isnt taller that 250 pixels, upload the image to a "host" site like imgur or if youre me: google+ then when making the sig, click "insert image" and put in the url!
