I'm someone who's only played New Leaf (played new horizons for about an hour on a friend's console), I can give you some tips, advice, gameplay, activities, etc if you want!
I'll just give a few pros and cons of it, since that's what you asked for lol.
Pros:
-Music. It's really nice, and goes well with the game
-Villager interaction. Villagers will sometimes try to engage you in conversation, not just the other way around
-Banana trees! These aren't in ACNH I don't think, but you can get them here, sometimes
-Town customisation is available, but in a different way to ACNH. I personally prefer the long trek that is the ACNL town decoration, but some people don't like it, so I also put it (and explained) in cons
-Plenty of events all year-round (I'm sure it's the same in ACNH, but some hosts are different from what I've gathered)
-Lots of things to unlock on main street ie shops, upgrades
-The post office! There's these animals that aren't in ACNH that run a post office where you can send mail and use your ABD
-Equipment doesn't break! Except for the regular + silver axe, which break after a certain amount of times
Cons:
-You can't choose your skin colour (though there is a way to achieve darker skin tones)
-Villagers can leave without your permission (they will usually say something to you and you can then deny them)
-You have to pay for putting stuff outside, through this thing called public work projects. Basically you get to choose from a list what and where you put these things, and you pay for them
-No online server anymore
-Flowers will *poof* if you run through them fast enough and enough times. That means no running through flowers
-Grass erosion from running. Don't run, basically
-Only 10 qr codes/patterns at a time
-You CANNOT dig up flowers to put them in your pocket. This will destroy them
I'll add more later if I think of any! But to be honest, you're better playing the game naturally, though there are definitely some ACNH habits you'll need to shake. Hope you enjoy the game when you play it!
