I have some questions about the game?

I'm on day 5 and I have a few questions.

1. Do cedar tree give furniture or tree branches? If not, are they useless other than for looks?
1. Would cutting down all non-fruit trees and leaving only a few help me get the 2 piece of furniture easily? Would it still spawn if there is like only 2 non-fruit trees on the island?

2. Is the best way to get hybrid flowers via the checkerboard method? AKA (>>), could putting flowers in an (X) or side by side (--) not work as well? Also let say they bloom in all available spots, should I plant my next flowers about 3 spaces away so that it can cover all area? Also flowers don't die if you don't water them right? Watering is only for hybrids?

3. Are there more than one trash boot recipe? I have around 8 boots in my storage and would like to get rid of them since I already crafted those cute boots.

4. What do you guys do with your duplicate fossils? Do you guys keep them or sell them? These are fossils that are extra that Blathers already has.

5. How long do you guys plan to play this game for? I notice some people want to catch all the fishes for this month, do they not plan to play this game for more than a year?

1. Cedar trees do give branches, and furniture. They can also hold wasps hives. I do not know about leaving only a few trees. Keep in mind that you need a certain amount of trees to reach 5 stars.
2. Checkerboard method is the most effective way. Flowers do not die in this game. Watering is only for hybrids yes.
3. There are at least 3 more recipes requiring the old boots. A wall, a floor, and trash bags.
4. I personally sell my duplicate fossils to the nooklings. However, some people trade or sell them on here. You can see in the Nook's Cranny forum section.
5. I plan on playing this game until the next Animal Crossing game comes out.

Oh I have one question for you I forgot to ask. Does spring and summer look the same? Isn't the leaves on the tree suppose to blossom and turn pink? We are in March, why does it look like it summer?
