I learned something new today

That is, if you have the ability to landscape.

After accidentally growing pansies on a dirt path, I discovered that some paths can be dug up. Bricks, wood, stones, you can’t dig or grow plants on, for that they are hard ground. But if you have dirt or sand, you can dig through and grow trees or flowers. But what’s even more amazing is that you can grow palm trees on sand paths in the middle of town, meaning that you can have palm trees on higher levels of elevation. It seems that some paths can be used as terrain textures, so if you want to have a desert, you can have a desert with palm trees.

I wonder if flowers will propagate on the sand or dirt. I imagine the dirt, but not so much the sand.

I’m thinking about making a region resembling Southern California, a desert with palm trees and cacti.

Keep in mind that if you want to lay other paths on sand or put any water bodies inside, you’ll have to deal with the grassy boundaries of each. But at least it makes paths look more organic and water areas more fertile.

That sounds super awesome to me. It’s a little sad that villages will now REALLY be separated by talent. Some islands will be incredible, and others will look like mine!
