Well here I am again at a crossroad.

My latest island of Shin Jidai has lost it’s luster. Don’t get me wrong I love this island but I made it after my bad burnout and wanted to avoid the same issues that made me restart in the first place and low and behold Shin Jidai is facing the same problem.

I need advice on how to approach this going forward.

For better explanations on issue feel free to ask questions.

To be clear I need to know if I should restart, flatten and try to redesign without doing the same thing again, or just give up altogether.

Also note I do have a second switch so moving stuff isn’t an issue.

I'm confused.
What is the thing that is causing the issues for you? Is it just you're tired of seeing the same thing?

You said you wanted to avoid the same issues that you had on your previous island but what were those issues?

It got to the point where I was done terraforming and I got all villagers I wanted. It was just as if I was just going on autopilot.

And now I’m done designing Shin Jidai and it’s just not fun anymore.

Personally I would say if you're not finding it fun any more, then you should stop playing.
You tried starting over once and only had fun with your time spent decorating.

You could redecate if you wanted to do that again. But I don't think you should keep going with something you're not having fun with.

I would hate to stop playing but that is a good point. Sometimes I wish ac didn’t have to be played in real time. Like for example I have more fun playing an old Pokémon game and doing one city then saving and picking it up like weeks later and nothing was missed.

Fortunately this version of animal crossing has little to no downsides to not playing for a while.
Any unsold turnips will rot after the Saturday passes, weeds will grow all over the place, and some villagers might make you feel a but guilty.

But you don't lose friendship, no one will move away, and weeds only take like 5 - 10 mins to clean up. So you're good to set it down for a while.

And should you chose to, you can change the date on your switch to catch up on any time you lost.

Restarting your island or redoing your island's landscape/design isn't going to change anything if you're burned out from it. Why not just not bother with all the designing aspects of the game and just play the daily part of the game? Check who is the daily npc, do some island hopping, chat with villagers and do some tasks for them, ect.

i has this exact same problem in new leaf, but i didnt want to destroy my village because it had the zen theme, which was Very difficult to get so i just bought another game *they were on sale for $10 lol* and created a new town. because horizons doesnt allow you to do that *a bad move if you ask me about it* if youre bored and dont want to wreck your island then i would stop playing for awhile or redecorating areas that youre not 100% satisfied with. TheDuke55 is right too, you can always visit other folks islands too, i would be happy to open my gate for you anytime you would like to shake it up a bit, my island is still being worked on so i could use a few pointers and opinions as well :)

My advice is going to be very similar to @TheDuke55 Whether you choose to restart or not, you could shift your focus to a different aspect Of the game. One thing that’s great about the game is that there’s a little something for everybody so if, before you were focusing on decorating with all the terraforming and so forth, this time perhaps you could focus on completing all of the various awards, like filling out your entire critterpedia and so forth. I was like you and was very burned out and bored with the game. I reset and that did work for me. What seems to be working is that my theme/look for my island is completely different now. Also I am slowing down and taking better advantage of the different contests and such.

just read all you guys' comments and I appreciate all the advice so far. I am also watching Tips and Tricks videos on youtube regarding NH and all in all I am slowly getting a better idea as for what I want to do going forward.
