I need help

I have been playing animal crossing new horizons on my switch for almost 2 years now and I still have just a tent as my residential space with Tom Nook. I don’t have any other option when I talk to him other than “about my house” or “what should I do” I’m getting frustrated because I see people who have played the game for only a couple weeks and get it. I am i need of help from experts.

Hey here are a few things you’ll need to cross off your list:
-Upgrade to a house, if you haven’t already
-get the rest of your 10 villagers moved in
-have your nooks cranny built

out of curiosity here...have you paid off your tent yet? in order to do so you have to go fishing, buy something, sell something, write in the bulletin board, pick weeds and take a picture. you have to give nook 5000 nook miles in order to get the tent to house upgrade.
once youve done that part of it you have to then go to the resident services and speak to nook there. he should tell you that you can upgrade to a house.
you dont need 10 villagers to do it, nor an upgrade to nooks shop either *those happen later on, although you wont need the 10 villagers to get the 5 star island either*.

Provided you complete each day of the prologue, the tent becomes the Town Hall building on about day 7 .

1. You must have paid off your tent (That costs 5,000 Nook Miles).
2. You must have built 3 homes for the 3 new villagers (That's 5 counting the 2 who flew there on a plane with you)
3. You have have opened the museum. (Not the tent)
4. You must have built a bridge.
5. You must have built Nook's Cranny.

After all has done. The next day Tom Nook will announce they will be building a building. The day after, Resident Services is closed for construction. The 3 day, the building is there and Isabelle too.
