I need help !!

I have been playing animal crossing new horizons on my switch for almost 2 years now and I still have just a tent as my residential space with Tom Nook. I don’t have any other option when I talk to him other than “about my house” or “what should I do” I’m getting frustrated because I see people who have played the game for only a couple weeks and get it. I am i need of help from experts.

did a bit of googling, and here are the requirements you’ll need to meet in order to upgrade resident services:

• you have to pay off your first loan and upgrade your tent to a house.
• you have to have nook’s cranny built.
• you need to have at least one bridge built, and at least 5 villagers.

if you’ve done and have all these things, then maybe select the “what should i do?” option when talking to tom nook and see what he tells you. if there’s something you still need to do to progress the story and/or unlock the resident services building, he should tell you what it is.
