I play ACWW on my 3DS. I had the internet settings set for the 3DS, but it made me go to the older DS version wifi set-up screen, and there were no connections! I set up mine, then it said the WEP Key wasn't correct, even though I'm positive it was! Any help?

"I also play ACCF, and ONLY ACCF. I don't play Wild World. /my sister broke the card.../ " o_O

I wouldn't know, I tend to only use Wifi on my DS, rather than my 3DS. I'm guessing try the code again, or switch it back to your old DS?

Over all Wi-Fi doesn't work so good on the DS! I also can't go online because I have no access point!

The only reason I can see this happening is that the game is not a 3DS game.
Dragon Quest IX has wi-fi ability too but my internet isn't set for a Wep Key so it doesn't work with DS games.

^^ sounds possible

That is the way mine is. I don't have the WEP set up, so I can't play my DS games on my 3DS online. The side effect of that that has me upset is that I have had no one move in since my last resident moved out of ACWW last week. idk if it is because I can't get connected through the DS connect or some other reason.

Your residents moving is random. It has nothing to do with the wi-fi at all.

I said I didn't know what exactly the cause is. All I know is this is the first time I have had ACWW without the wi-fi set up, and this is the only time I have not had a new neighbor move in the same day or day after the old one move out.

o_O The same thing happened with me. I have internet on DSi+3DS, but no wifi connection in WW. I even tried putting in the code and (just like you) sure i positive it is correct. I can only go on wifi in specific places where i am (and my house isn't one of them)

I remember reading on AC:WW that if you set up Wifi with one device, you have to use that device to connect to the internet with that game.

Yes, I'm pretty sure this is correct.

You can reconnect on a different device, you just need to give out a new code to your friends. (IDK how you would do that, though.) The problem is, you also have to have the correct internet security system to get on, which I don't have. I have a WPA security, and the DS requires a WEP system.

Idk if this has been answered or not yet, but just then I changed the security to my internet (WEP to WPA) and obv I couldn't connect to the internet on my 3DS, even through changing the settings, so I just deleted the internet settings and started a new connection, works mine now, idk if this helps.

My 3DS does not have problems with the internet, unless I am playing a DS/DSi game in it. In order to connect through the DS Connections, you have to have WEP. For the 3DS to connect, it does not matter.

It is outdated security settings

Nintendo puts the security settings on the game card also (where it can't be updated, arrgh). Because WW is a DS game and DS only had WEP security, it requires WEP to connect. WEP is outdated so your 3DS and router are probably using WPA.

in order to connect WW you need to switch all your security settings to WEP. WEP is not very secure so you have a choice. I am going to swap back to WEP but it really bugs me. I have 9 devices that will need to be set back to this old security standard in order to use WW!

I just bought WW because I couldn't waiting for AC 3DS was driving me batty. I never played WW so I need the fruit trees from a friend.

This!

All games released before the DSi that are connected to the DS need WEP.

You have options, ya know! :D

1. Use the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. But good luck finding a convienient item.... that's discontinued :p
2. Use the AOSS button on compatible routers
3. Change the security settings. Just like who quoted, this is a pain! I/my household has a ton of devices connected to WPA-number something. If you want to have Wi-Fi on Wild World you would need to change the security settings to do that.

And yes I agree about AC 3DS! OMG cant they just release it! Or give us a stone-stay date?! I'm getting jealous that Japan and Europe have their release dates already (Fall 2012 and Early 2013, respectively.)!

Also, the DS games have a less-powerful wifi connection than that of the system. And even if it does connect correctly, some routers have to be reconfigured in order to work with some DS games like ACWW, even if the encryption level is WEP. There's two types of WEP encryption -- an older and less secure one, and a newer and more secure one. Most routers are set by default to the newer one. Try changing it to the other one (note: you'll have to change some wifi settings in any Windows computer connected by wifi) and the bandwith channel to like 11. Or you could just get rid of the encryption key altogether and open your network, but I wouldn't recommend that if you have neighbors in range of your router. I'd like to make a guide on how to do it, but I don't think Moma would let me mess with the router settings just for making a guide for someone. .n. You can probably find a guide and more info online. I just read up about it a long time ago, and though I'm a super computer nerd, I tend to forget things.
