I want more meaning and depth to inter-villager interaction

Wouldn't it be so cool if Nintendo paid special attention to how villagers interact and feel about one another? Villagers dating, gossiping, arguing etc would be beyond cute . I know these mechanics somewhat exist already, but they're very surface level so far. Villagers talk about eachother and send gifts but there's no real sense that they gain and lose relationship.

I want (covert) relationship bars between villagers. Cute, inconsequiential drama. Would be cool and spark a real sense of community. Like these lil animal dudes are just that bit more alive.

This is something I've always wanted! I want them to get into fights, I want to see them hanging out together, I want to see them hiding from someone they don't want to talk to. I just want them to feel more real and alive. Like they actually have a personality and aren't just reciting what the devs wrote. They feel so blah... In my town, I just like them based off aesthetics. It would be nice to actually get attached based off of who they were as an individual and their quirks and actions.

Personally I don’t like the idea of actual obvious romance between villagers (though little hints are cute) but the idea of more defined friendships/relationships is really cool and something I would love to see for sure!

It would be nice if themed villagers had more variety of things to say. Maybe sayings particular to each villager. I like mostly cranky and jock villagers and a lot of the time they all just tell me the same thing. "You lift weights, Brosaphene?"

I like the friendship levels that they introduced in Pocket Camp and I'm wondering if they might not continue that in the Switch version. That way you could unlock more dialog and get better gifts and whatnot.

I agree! One of the main things that draw me to games are the characters, and even though I love the villagers, it's kind of disappointing to hear the same lines from the different villagers (especially cause most of my dreamies are smugs). It's kind of lame to hear a villager remark on two villagers friendship, and then the next day they say the same thing but with two random villagers who don't even live in the same part of town. I would love to see them have consistent friendships with other villagers and likewise have them avoid villagers they don't exactly get along with. I can't say I would entirely want the romance thing to happen just because I like the subtle lil hints they can give about other villagers. I would also love if they did something like what they did in pocket camp where you can actually befriend villagers instead of have them just automatically friend you.

i would love to have more conversations with my villagers. i also want them to tell me more about themselves, and ask me questions. maybe get me to ask them questions as well, sort of like how some villagers in acnl will begin to tell a story and you can either act interested or disinterested.

i dont know about the romance though. i like animal crossing mostly cuz there IS no romance, lol
if i want to ship, nothing is stopping me from doing that outside of the game!

Yes yes yes yes yesss. Like when villagers talk about hearing gossip about someone, I want to be able to talk to the villager that they were gossiping about and hear more about it. I want to hear more about why people think Klaus and Shep are cousins. XD I also want to be able to talk to villagers about letters they've sent me, be able to say thank you, etc. And I'd also like villagers to remember things that we've done together/ said to each other and let it effect our relationship.
