If this is the wrong place to post a question about this progrom, then sorry. I will move it if I have to.
GIMP is supposed to be like photoshop and I'm the type of person who loved doing things on photoshop. But I don't want to pay for it and I know there was a way to get photoshop for free because my sister have done it before, but she didn't remember how. So I guess I have to try a differnt program and people say GIMP is a good program. But the last time I used the app, it kept on crashing and not working right. But I feel like I want to try it again. So I need opinions about if GIMP is a good program to use? I also want to do my own signature of my towns and NH island all together which is total of 7 in one signature. That's what I want to create.

Aaah GIMP. I haven't heard that name in a while.

I used gimp years and years ago. I remember really having a rough time with it. Of course I don't know if the program has improved since then but I recall having a lot of problems with how limited and clunky it was.

If you want a robust drawing program for free I recommend Krita! Krita has a ton of features and all the fancy schmancy things you could ever need. I will warn it will most likely feel a bit overwhelming at first. I personally am still getting used to it and alternate between it and Fire Alpaca.

Fire Alpaca is a neat little art program too, but it does lack some of the fancier features. If you do have interest in Fire Alpaca, remember to make sure you get it from the official site. There have been a lot of impostor sites that have viruses on them as of late.

Also totally unrelated but I love your icon!

Everyone remembers their first time making the leap from MS paint to GIMP...

Allow me to endorse a phone based application if you have the chance to use it, IbisPaint. It’s more convenient than anything I could imagine, it offers a ton of brushes, gives you free reign to edit those brushes if you need to, amazing control over layers, and it’s free to use if you’re willing to watch an ad every now and then. If there’s something you want to do with Ibis, it won’t be a science project trying to determine how to get it to function, I assure you.

Hmm well gimp is a decent program, but edit-wise I had always preferred photoshop. I'm not a big fan of gimp's interface so i'm curious if others have gotten far with it. Since my old computer died & I no longer have access to photoshop, I typically use photoscapeX or lunapic for small edits, and if they don't suffice then gimp is a good fallback after a little googling on how to do certain things. (Mac is more limited for programs though ig)
As Em stated, IbisPaint is a good program for drawing but is a little limited since it's mobile.

lucky for me I have a virus protecter program and tells me if a webside has a virus or if files has them. But okay I will keep that in mind.

I also have Paint Tool Sai, but it's more of just art program and not edit picture program type.
