I know I have been rather bad about posting, reading, and commenting. I humbly apologize to you all. Summer is an absolutely crazy time of year for me, and this one has been more nuts than usual. Once things settle down, I'll be back and spamming up commenting on your blogs again. :)

I'm still dealing with crutches. That sprain I thought I had was actually a fracture, so I'm in a cast until after Labor Day. It wasn't what I planned for summer. Oh, well.

My baby celebrated his 18th birthday last Wednesday. I got him a new bed - a faux mink kitty couch. It puts the rest of my furniture to shame! lol He loves it, though, so it was worth it.

Had a scare last Friday, though. I'd taken the day off (mental health break) and was very glad of it. Blaze was sitting, watching me, no doubt doing his mental telepathy bit to convince me to get up and give him some canned food (you want to know who is really in charge at my house?) when he suddenly had a seizure. It scared me to death, and I scooped him up so he wouldn't smack into anything. He came out of it and started crying, so I called the vet. They kept him overnight, did some blood work, took X-rays, but weren't able to find anything that they could say was the cause. I was able to bring him home and he seems to be fine now, but it was a bit of drama that we both could have done without.

*******

Back in Salem, things are progressing. I succeeded in having Perfect Town status for 15 days, so I have my Golden Watering Can. I also tore down the clock I had and built the Flower Clock, constructed the Picnic Blanket, Reset Center, and have started on the Fortune Shop. Oh, yes. And I paid off all the loans on my home. Lyle contacted me about a theme challenge, and I chose the Fairy Tale one. It'll take a while to complete, but should be fun.

I lined all my paths with flowers and pulled up all the patterns, so I now have dirt paths. I've put clumps of flowers on the other dirt patches I want to grow in. If it doesn't work, I'll just have to convert the areas to permanent flower beds. *shrugs* I've also been buying shrubs from Leif and am making my borders. It's slow going, but I like the hedge... except for the random dead spots that won't let bushes grow. Why can you grow a flower there if not a bush/tree? It makes no sense. *sigh*

I won another Bug-Off. That makes 3 gold trophies. Thank heavens for the island tours and birdwing butterflies!

Guess that's about all that's going on. I'm hoping to finish Katrina's shop in a few days. Once that's done, I think I might build the hammock behind my house. Kitt asked for the Fairy Tale Clock, which would look nice right up by the Train Station (on the other side of the cobblestones). I'm hoping someone will ask for the Fairy Tale Lamp, Bridge, and Bench soon, so I can replace what I've already built.

I'm sorry about your foot and Blaze. One of me and my sister's guinea pigs has a skin problem (we suspect it is mites). We are hoping you and Blaze feel better soon.

Thank you, Meghan. I'm really more upset about Blaze than I am my foot. That's healing fine and, other than being a bit bored because I can't go out much or do a lot, it isn't too much trouble. I'm totally milking the sympathy bit. ;) Blaze seems to be recovering just fine, though, so I'm glad of that.

I'm sorry to hear about your poor guinea pig. I hope you are able to get the skin condition cleared up soon and that it doesn't spread to the other.

Thank you! Yes, we aren't sure if our other guinea pig has it, but he's definitely scratching nowhere near as much. Thankfully, if they do have mites, they are only at the beginning stage. We tend to worry about them because in the wild, guinea pigs are prey animals, making it extra difficult to tell when they are in pain because they try to hide it; any signs of weakness would get them killed rather quickly, as predators pick off the weaklings.
Thank you for your concern.

Oh, I'm so sorry about this...seems as if your summer has been a scary one by far! (It's not Halloween, is it?)
Sorry to hear about Blaze...I hope he's perfectly normal now! And I hope that your foot will heal quickly!^^Happy Birthday to Blaze, too. I'm glad he liked his gift! :)
Congratulations with the Bug-Off as well, along with the Golden Watering Can and Salem's other accomplishments! I'm happy to hear that your town is coming along nicely! Wishing you luck for the rest of the summer and days to come! :)

I am so sorry to hear about your foot and Blaze. I hope you get well soon, and that Blaze won't have another seizure! He seems pretty healthy for an 18 year-old cat, though, so I believe he will live much longer. Happy *belated* birthday to him, too; I wish you both the best of luck! :)

Thank you, Allison. My foot is getting better, so I hope to be able to get rid of the cast when I go back to the doctor. As for Blaze, he seems to be fully recovered from that episode. You're right about him being healthy, given his age. I've been very lucky to have him with me this long. I'll pass the birthday wishes on to him; he always loves the extra attention! :)
