Hey folks, I came up with an idea for AC Switch that I personally think would be pretty neat if it came true and I wanted to share!
This is purely my wishful thinking though, I don't believe it's very likely (or likely at all) they'll implement something like this.
But it's fun to fantasize nonetheless. I hope you agree!
So... As stated in the title: Upgradeable animal villager houses!
I've always thought it was a bit... odd that our humans are the only ones who get to eventually have huge mansions, while all the other villagers are stuck with their tiny one-room-houses. Wouldn't it be neat if they could upgrade their homes at least once (or twice), as well?
Here's my idea: Once a villager has been living in your town for a significant amount of time, you would find them with a thought bubble over their head when they're inside their house.
When you talk to them, they'll reveal to you that they are starting to get the feeling that their place might be a bit too cramped, you know, since they've been living in (town name) for quite a while now and have acquired so many new items and stuff to decorate with. Not to mention that they've come to really like the town and don't think they're going to move any time soon. In other words: They're ready to settle in for real - and expand their home!
At that point you would of course be able to influence their decision. You could either tell them that it sounds like a great idea and to go ahead, or tell them to think it over some more (hint hint... Please move out!).
If you told them to do it, their house would be upgraded with a new room (of the same size as their main room) three days later. However, that room would be empty - for now. The next time you talk to them once it's upgraded, they'll happily inform you that they went ahead with their idea! But... now that the new room is actually there, they're feeling a bit stumped. They need some inspiration on what to do with it! They have a vague idea what kind of theme they want, but other than that...
That's where you come in, again! I'm sure you can tell where this is going.
Correct: You would be able to help them out and design their new room for them, just like in Happy Home Designer. I think that would be a neat way to tie that spin-off in with the main game. It'd give us more stuff to do, too!
Now, the aspects I'm not too sure about are
1. Where would the player get the furniture to decorate the room with from? Maybe it could be different from HHD in the way that you would be able to re-decorate the room whenever and add furniture as you collect it in the "main game" (plus I'm thinking maybe there'd be, like, a few prerequisite items that you'd *have* to use for the villager to be satisfied with the result), but hmm... That could end up being too tedious maybe?
2. What about players who just don't care for HHD and/or decorating homes? Then again, I'd make the upgrade feature optional to begin with.
But other than that I think it'd be such a neat little feature. It would give the villagers some more personality if each of them had this extra room that revealed something about them, like a special interest/hobby or something.
And I think it would also be pretty neat to see right away which villagers have been living in a town for a long time because they'd have a slightly bigger house compared to the newer residents.
But what do yall think? Would you like a feature like that? Any ideas to add?
