In the past few games, we have earned prizes after some achievements unlocked. It wasn't until New Leaf when we have the achievement system installed. Every time when you achieve something, Phineas gives you a badge. Some badges are higher levels of others.

This time on the Idea Blog, I'm going over something else that would make earning badges more exciting. What I'm thinking about is that each time you earn a badge, you get a letter from someone related to the field you earn a badge in. The letter includes a prize relating to the badge. You get the letter before or after you talk to Phineas, but it depends on what you do first.

First, I would like to say that obtaining the golden watering can and golden shovel should be swapped, so it's the golden shovel you earn if you get a perfect town status for 15 days. Also, it is impossible to discard any golden tool or other prizes you earn from completing some achievements. Second, I would replace the Streetpass badge with the hybrid badge, where you have to grow a certain amount of flowers by flower breeding, not by planting.

Now I'm going over more about this idea:

Each prize is somehow related to the achievement you're getting it in. For example, on the savings badge, where you earn prizes for saving a certain amount of Bells in your bank, you should be able to get a prize from the Post Office related to the savings. After getting the bronze badge, you will get an aluminum briefcase. It's unorderable, and impossible to sell or discard. You can't even lose it during Halloween or drop it outside. After getting the silver badge, you get a safe, which is used as a storage furniture piece. After getting the golden badge, you get your own ABD machine for home.

Another example is the cataloging badges. The prize counterpart to the bronze badge is a catalog magazine, which gives you data on what you have collected and how much is there in total that you're missing. It's a table furniture piece. The one that goes along with the silver is the Nookling's Jacket (similar to Nookington's/T&T Emporium's uniform). The golden badge's prize is your own home catalog machine, where you can order from home.

How about the mailing badges? Prizes to come with them are the letter set, which comes with the bronze badge, the Post-Office Poster, which comes with the silver badge, and the Mailman's hat, which comes with the golden badge. What about the shopping badges? Okay, here's my idea. The bronze badge goes along with the shopping cart furniture piece. The Nookling Poster would be the silver badge's prize. The golden badge's prize would be a debit card, where you can use your ABD's account to spend your money with.

The only six areas of badges where your golden badge prize is not a furniture piece is shopping, seafood encyclopedia, fish encyclopedia, insect encyclopedia, gardening, and flower breeding. The six badges you get medals as furniture pieces are fishing, bug hunting, seafood hunting or diving, island tours, HHA points (trophies instead of medals), and balloon hunting (golden slingshots still come from balloons and not as associated prizes).

There are 28 prizes you can get that have similar traits to the badge-related prizes, but are not earned/obtained from earning badges. The HHA Jacket, golden slingshot, and fishing trophies are some good examples.

That's all for the badge prize idea. You are free to comment if you wish.
