If I were to get a new Switch?

So if theoretically, I decided to get one of the newest Switch consoles with the bigger screen, what are my options regarding animal crossing? Can I transfer my current game onto the new switch? Then start a second island on current switch? And if I did that is there a way to change my mind on which island I play on which Switch after, or not?

There is an island transfer tool you would need to download from the eshop but yes you can move your island.

As for swapping it back, you would have to delete your new island if you made one to do it as you can't move an island to a console with existing save data

Thank you, that makes so much sense! I remember when my switch lite broke and I bought this one I was able to restore my island from save data but this was in the very early days of the backup feature before all the features had come out!
