I'm so new to this, a friend on twitch had referred me to this site and at the moment I don't have any money as I'm trying to get my disability case figured out. MY fianc? said he's going to get me animal crossing and a Nintendo 3ds xl for my birthday but I was told I needed Amiibo card for the QR codes and such to scan onto my game. I don't have any money at the moment as I said and I was wondering how would I be able to get some amiibo cards. I was told to come here and maybe able to find someone to figure something out with and see if anyone has any extras, If not that's okay. I just thought I'd ask. I wouldn't know what to trade for as I don't have a collection of cards yet b ut I'm wanting to start a collection of amiibos, can someone help me?

I only have 6 cards so far myself, but if I ever get any doubles, I'll be sure to keep you in mind! :)

Hi! Welcome to the Animal Crossing community! I'm new to this site, but have been a fan of the series for years.

In the 3DS game, you can use both the amiibo cards and amiibo figures to invite specific villagers to come over and hang out with you. You don't need any to play the game, as you can get almost everything just playing normally, but they are a lot of fun to collect! http://animal-crossing.com/amiibo/#

I have a pile of Japanese amiibo card duplicates if you would like them. They work exactly the same as North American cards (amiibo aren't region locked), but some collectors (like me) prefer to own a matching set. I'm in it for the long haul, but if you just want to play around with a few and/or don't care about mixing and matching, PM me and I'll mail them your way.

Well, while I can’t help you on amiibos, I can help you with the info I have for getting a 3ds...

So, you really don’t need a reader for the QR codes, just for the Amiibo, (the 3DS uses the camera for the QR) and if your fianc?e wants to spend a little more, you should get a new 3DS XL or a 2DS XL as they have the reader already inside, as the NFC peripheral is very hard to find, and when it’s found, its extremely expensive, I suggest getting the 2DS XL if you are on a budget and as it’s a bit cheaper than the New 3DSXL.

I don’t know if the link will work, but its Nintendos official site and compares models of the 3DS’s https://www.nintendo.com/3ds/features/compare/ so, you’d want to choose the one that suits your play style the most (and I hope this isn’t against staff rules…)
