I just started my island on Christmas and have been progressing rather quickly, but I’m stuck cause I’m just constantly having to use a flimsy axe and my island has no clay and honestly clay is the main thing I need right now. So if anyone would be okay with me coming to their island to collect some clay and buy an axe recipe that would be amazing.

I am not on my game at the moment, but your island definitely does have clay! You get clay by hitting rocks! The key is to maximize the materials you get from the rock to more quickly collect what you need (you can get up to 8 materials - either stone, iron, or clay from your rocks per day.) the technique that works best for me is to dig three holes behind where I will stand. Then, using your shovel (flimsy shovel also works) hit the rock 8 times without pausing between hits (basically jam the a button as fast as possible.
it takes some practice and you may not get the full 8 everyday, but you will be able to gather what you need. If you need more materials you can also mine rocks on nook miles islands.
your island will have 5 rocks, and 4 of them will produce materials, one will produce bells. You can hit your rocks one round per day to get materials out of them
oops, one last thing, just in case - do not eat fruit before hitting your rocks to material mine, this will break the rock and you will get much less from it.
You can of course trade materials and items on here, but just wanted to help out should you choose to gather your own!
as for the axe, you can buy the recipe for the stone axe and the regular axe from nook’s cranny once it is built. The regular axe will destroy your tree (by cutting it down) the stone axe will give you the three woods without cutting your trees down.

Yeah I know how to get all that but my stones had just run out of materials and I rarely get clay, also I have nook’s cranny built but I still don’t have the recipe for a regular axe

Ahh, well if you do not find someone sooner, once I get online you are welcome to come to my island to buy an axe (and I will see if I can get you the recipe too if you want it). I think I have a least a stack or two of clay!
The best way to maximize output from hitting rocks is to dig 2 diagonal holes on one edge of the rock, ensuring there are 8 open spaces around the rock.
The axe DIY probably doesn't exist. When you first start your game, there is an unlockable in the Nook Stop called Better Tools or something like that.
