Introductions
I'm Fey!!!!! I like playing games (my favorites are probably Guild Wars 2 and Minecraft (I'm currently super excited for the Rain World dlc and Monster Hunter Wilds, both coming out this month), but in general I like any game that feels like a new experience for me. I draw/paint on occasion(digital mostly but I want to get into oil painting this year), I enjoy (but don't often play) tabletop rpgs like Dungeons and Dragons, I play a bit of Magic the Gathering, I'm an amateur at crocheting and find cars neat, and probably a couple more things as well. I'm in my late 20s and I'm planning on going to college next year!!
Modern Experiences
I'm an optimistic type, but I've felt a little lost about a lot of the experiences of living lately. I don't really mesh with how formulaic and streamlined the modern internet/media has become. It may just be nostalgia, I do think it plays a part, but I think there's something more there too. I was searching for alternative forms of socializing online that isn't one of the big like, 3-4 social media sites, or a discord server, and this is the first forum I found that looked lively and was entertaining to read, skimming through threads.
I played New Leaf ages ago but never got super super invested into it (I remember getting the 1 year event but honestly I think I had like, <50 hours played at best), and then got super super into New Horizons right around launch, putting a couple hundred hours into it before the end of the real life release year. I feel like I may have hampered my enjoyment of the island by rushing through certain advancements, really tightly scheduling the time-gated activities to not miss anything, conspiring with a group of twenty or so friends to play the stalk market, etcetera. I still very much enjoyed the game, but dropped it for a good while after that initial burst, only picking it up for a couple of weeks here and there.
Fresh Starts
I've been wanting to disconnect a bit, start to enjoy the slow life and not stress so much about productivity, which felt like a perfect time to pick the game back up. I decided to start a new island over the weekend, to get a bit of a fresh start. I'm probably going to progress quite slow, due to my current schedule and trying not to look up anything. I'm looking forward to talking here and maybe playing with others at some point! Whether that be New Horizons or anything else. (Also I'm playing pocket camp for the first time too.)
This is probably a lot of late night rambling, so congratulations for reading it all!!! thanks for your time!!!
