is advertising allowed

i have a thread and i want to advertise but im not sure if its allowed, and if it is allowed where would i got to advertise it.

It's okay to advertise people to come to your threads or towns (or another website that you own), but this can only be done in your signature. Threads or posts advertising something are either forbidden or must be in the Basement forum (depending on what you're advertising).

You're better off putting your advertisements in your signature. My signature is advertising people to read my Idea Book off-site and my blog on this site.

Advertisements for a sale on your thread would go either in the title of your thread and/or your signature, which is the thing below your post that I have. Below this post you'll see some links I have to my threads here, so that's what a signature is. To set one up, you go to settings and click on "Edit Signature".

If you're advertising a sale, then the thread advertising it it shouldn't be in the basement. That would be put in your signature (or what always comes after your post when you post).

Then if you have a thread in the Re-Tail, Villager Trading Plaza, or Train Station, then you can add the link to your signature. I believe Bowie gave you the instructions on how to edit your sig.

Bottom line, advertising to a thread, group, another website you're part of, and town is appropriate for the site, but it must be done in your signature.
