Is Boondox really a scam?

I was reading the Animal Crossing Wiki (a part of wikia) to learn more about Boondox and the order of events when you finish donations. Somewhere in the Trivia section, there were some conspiracies about Boondox being a fraud. One sample was that even after turning into Boondopolis, they still like to eat dirt. Who would want to eat poor people food when they have enough money to eat some nice food that costs more? Another thing I read was that it's possible that Tortimer is collecting your donation money for his personal life. So in ACWW, is Boondox real, or is it a fake? If it's a fake, I would like more samples.

Boondox is the name of a town in Wild World that you donate to. When you access the donation feature, Pelly or Phyllis will tell you the horrible story of Boondox. It's a poor town where all the residents eat dirt. No homes, no love, nothing. So you donate Bells to help out those poor people. But what some conspiracies are saying is that Tortimer is collecting money for his personal life, showing us that it's a scam.

If you remember how to get feathers in Wild World, this is what I'm talking about.

Exactly. I enjoy reading conspiracy theories about certain things, like the Boondox being a scam, Cornimer's true identity, and the fan theory between The Little Mermaid, Tangled, and Frozen (which isn't AC related). If this is a scam, then I have completely lost respect in that turtle.

Heh, but cranky villagers make conspiracies about EVERYONE. They're not the most reliable source of information.
Anyways, I don't think Tortimer and Pelly could bring themselves to do something like that. I like to think they're good animals.

So after all, Boondox must be a real place, but I read somewhere that they still like to eat dirt even if they live in a utopian society. So that's another hint to tell is Boondox is a fraud.

Yes, it was the ONLY way to get the feathers, and in fact when Isabelle said that I'D be the one paying for the PWP's, I was like- Oh yeah, just like when I was funding Boondox! After 9 years, I finally got the last feather! It's basically the same premise as the PWP, YOU donate to it!

My theory is that Tortimer had Pave hostage in the back room, and he was plucking him clean and giving you the feathers as a clever, morbid way of saying "thank you" for funding their underground criminal enterprise.

Nah, jk. XD Tortimer wasn't the boss, it was clearly Phyllis! XD
