I just asked this to myself because i'm getting tired of working so hard at something that doesn't make me happy, yet I keep working hard at school because I want to have a good job one day.

But i'm not happy. I just want to become a musician and have a happy life but i'd let down everybody around me by not working hard enough.

What do you think?

lifes too short to chase money, lol.

dreams for sure. do what's best for you and your one life you were given.
who cares what anyone thinks you should do with your own life.

both
You don't want to be seeking a career and living as a bum(which would cause you to be more depress/stress). Think about your dream and what would be a suitable career path for you. One that you enjoy the work and pay and not so more of one than the other where you're fighting to pay rent or get food on the table.

Life will knock you down if you let it. It's up to you if you want to stay down or fight back.

Dreams. And congratulations if you get money on the way. One day you will die and you can't take your money or what you buy with it with you.

I'd factor in both. You don't want to be poor but you also don't want to be unhappy.

If you want to be a musician, you'll have to work hard for it and just follow your dreams.
If you follow your dreams, everything will work out in the end.

Take into consideration what you enjoy and what can earn you money. I've always wanted to be a theoretical mathematician, but in realty it's not likely I'll be able to become one because of how few openings there are for those type of jobs. So, taking into consideration the fact that I like organizing, and the fact that I want a math-based career, I've decided to focus on accounting and auditing. I took a course this summer on basic accounting and I love it. It's relaxing, and I actually looked forward to working on it each day. Find what you love and pursue it, but don't do something that makes you a bum asking for handouts in the end, or taking a job that makes you a millionaire and you hate it.

I'd say both because it could happen with a lot of effort and loads of luck. If you love doing something and you're really good at it, with some luck, the money will come to you.

Both! Why not go after something unknown? That's pretty much how I chose my college major (Information Tech). I knew absolutely nothing about computers, but it was always something I was curious about. I wanted to focus on something artistic at first, but the art careers are too competitive and confusing *cough*modern art*cough*. I don't really have any complaints about IT, so it's working out so far! :D

You should really try to be chasing both....there aren't many people who actively enjoy what they do for a living. They do it purely for the money to keep them going, since without money you're really screwed.
You can still chase your dreams, but have a back up option there just in case. You don't want to end up in a situation where you're having to sing on the streets to make money or end up sleeping on a park bench.

I mean, you definitely need money to survive. Buut if you aren't happy with your life because you aren't going after your dreams, there's no real point for you to be alive. soo basically, just do both. mmaybe don't only focus on one of them since u know, u need money to survive, but u dont need All The Money so if you have time for ur dreams go for them too

Why not become a musician, it's cool and if you will get really good at it you will make some good money too.

I'd say, dreams or at least some realistic goals you want/need to make your life better or at least tolerable. Then if you need money to get there is another thing.

i'm all for chasing your dreams, but unless you're very lucky or have someone else paying for stuff, you need money to get there. so a mix of both, i guess. i'm willing to sacrifice some of my time to work at a job i don't necessarily love if it pays well, and then use the money i've saved to achieve my goals.

You dream for money.

Seriously though, life is short so you should try to accomplish your dreams before you regret wasting your life. But of course you'll also need money to make it through.

Dreams.

BUT..

If you experience financial problems while chasing your dream then that would be a problem. Sometimes things, even if they're your passion, end up not working out. Hey, it's okay though. There's always other routes in life. We all experience tough times. Go ahead and fufill your dream of becoming a musician. Ignore the others. If all goes well, congratulations. If you end up facing a lot of difficulties, it's okay. There will be solutions, don't spend your life taking the safe route because at 90 you'll be like "What if I actually became a musician? It would've been much better." :)
